"insucre"-- I think you mean "insecure"

Right now I'm getting a minimum of two job applications a WEEK and they are written in the style (whole languages - free style) as above. Some of these people have gone through university!! The mind boggles how they managed that trick.

Whole languages first showed up and was accepted by the educrats with incredible fervor. A few years later when parents were discovering their kids couldn't read or write in grd 6 - 7 - 8 , a dude came out with HOOKED ON PHONICS and they (Fed Dept of Education in the US) got a bunch of dipshit judges to slap a court injunction against its sales for being dangerously reactionary.

Today they say it is costing the US economy over 100 BILLION DOLLARS in lost productivity and the Feds have threatened to withold edutax funding to school boards still teaching it.

In Canada we only just discovered Whole Languages a few years ago. The educrats, even with 25 years of DISASTER in the states, figure they can do it "right" here and are persisting in teaching that method in many schools.

On top of whole languages and "discovery math" (where kids are not taught math, they're simply EXPOSED to it) many schools no longer teach History or Geography. There hasn't been a grammar text in (most) Ontario schools for decades. Teaching Islam, the glories of homosexuality and banning so much as the mention of the Christian GOD in our schools are what the educrats are pushing. ..everything else be damned. If the kid is still so curious after being intelectually battered for 12 years, they can look it up on the net.

Ezzie! congrats on your daughters spelling... my son is 6 {in kindergarten} and hes reading 2nd grade level.. when we moved to our new dutys tation{and hes going toa DOD school}, the teacher had the nerve to tell me that it wasnt that important that he could read, -its more important that his writing gets better- his writing is extremely poor. ?!?! since when is reading not important? and on the writing thing.. he can write, you can read WHAT he writes, it just isnt very pretty {and surprisingly enough it looks *just* like his Dads writing! }
