OK, this is a little off the wall, bear with me, as I said it's exquisite.

Follow along with me:

At your computer desk or on the couch, remove one of your socks, if your wearing one. Now, cross your leg over, the one without a sock, bare foot.

Without using your hands bend or point your big toe down towards your heel. No, you can't touch your heel with your big toe on the same foot, but try, try as hard as you can.

If done properly you will be rewarded with an exquisite, if excrutiating, muscle cramp in your instep of the bare foot.

Results may vary, but is best done after work or whenever you've been weraing shoes for a long time and been on your feet awhile. Also, at night in bed is a good time as your body is trying to wind down.

OK, so now you all know how I spend my down time when I'm not doing anything else worthwhile.

Enjoy!

having (had) those cramps on a more or less regular basis during the night i can say only one thing: they are anything but exquisite, you sicko.

Halo :rose:

Ok, I know this thread is about enjoying pain, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had horrible cramps in their calf muscles while sleeping?

Those things are horrible! Why do they happen?

Halo :rose:

Why thank you! Glad to hear you experienced the same pleasures as I. ;)

By the way, that AV is too hot, tell me it's you, oh please!?

Wiggle, I have.

Had one so bad it strained the muscle. Crutches and hobbling for two weeks.

I believe it can stem from a potassium deficiency. Try bannanas.

My most memorable cramp as you have described came on my second night at boot camp (Navy). We of course had been marching, and doing calistenics all day, and in heavy boots. The cramp came in the middle of the night and it woke me up even! The mid watch came over and shinned a flashlight in my face as they had hear me holler outloud in pain.

Needless to say my calf muscle was balled up like a steel baseball, it to was exquisite, if very painful.

they happen because the muscle is "sour" - meaning there is too much lactate acid in the muscle for putting too much strain on it. usually our body is totally relaxed when we are sleeping (apart from our eyes which constantly roll around during the REM phase) but strain on the body or nightmares can cause our muscles to contract and since the calf muscle is one of the strongest in our body and has an euqally potent antagonist it often comes to cramps.
This is also aided by the fact that our calf muscles shorten when we wear high heels too often(may i suspect that was the case with you Juspar :D ) or train our muscles wrongly.

magnesium helps preventing those cramps. :)

hope that helped.

Shamless bump of old thread

Did anyone try this? LOL...

OMG, my instep is cramped up like a cord of steel, it hurts so good though! :D

Okay, pain is good in my opinion, but leg cramps i cannot take.

I had them when I was pregnant so bad, they thought I had a blood clot.

Spank me,torture my nipples, pull on my hair, but dont give me a leg cramp.

You don't love me anymore.

Why do you say that? Because I'm not on Yahoo as frequently?

I've been neglecting my righteous duties as a Lit poster. :D

Because you don't say Hi to me anymore. I'm usually invis on yahoo anyway.

I know...it's hard to talk to just one person for any length of time without going invisible. :(
