.... off the "butts", the "cigs", the "fags", the "coffin nails", the "smokes". Thirty six hours and counting.

I would still, quite gladly, kill for one though.

Maybe i'll just go kick the bejesus out of some small furry animals instead.(kidding)

:) Good for you!

Someone who works for me decided to give up smoking last weekend after she "forgot" to smoke Saturday night. She was afraid to tell anyone in case she slipped, but she was so excited on Monday she came to tell me. So far, so good. She is proud of herself and starting to tell others what she is up to.

Good luck- keep posting here and we'll give you all the positive reinforcement you want to help you!

hot, sweet, smart, sexy, funny despite the fact he's Canadian. :)

oops.. we weren't supposed to finish the sentence?

Good luck on stopping Exp. I promised my son I would try next year. (that's really saying a lot since I've never told anyone I'd quit before)

So, when I quit do you have any ideas of what I could substitute to satisfy my oral fixation?

Oral Sex, Food, oral sex, drinking, oral sex, gum, oral sex, coffee, oral sex

Nope sorry, can't think of anything....

I've been battling the butts since the late seventies, it's tough business. I don't think anything is more addictive than nicotine. I don't think quitting is so hard (I've done it a kajillion times) it's just that starting again is so easy. I'm swearing them off forever this weekend.............again.

Is there such a thing as a stupid patch?

Be strong, Expertise.

The physical addiction is fairly easy to kick -- 72 hours is all it takes according to one stop-smoking ad.

The problem I have with quitting is that stupid little hourglass my cursor turns into every so often -- It comes on and I light a cigarette.

The habits and rituals of smoking are what are hard to kick. If I could live on the flightline where smoking is more immediately dangerous to your health, I'd be able to quit easily -- It's much easierr to control the cravings when you are in a situation where youdon't normally smoke.

Change the cursor WH, darlin. Solve the problem. You could maybe get the naked babe shakin her ass or something. Then it wouldn't be the cigarette coming out for a little, er, attention.

Halfway there bubba, don't give up yet! You can do it! Hey, and if it gets too bad, get some soda pop cans and make a pyramid in front of your desk. Irking secretaries can be a good substitute to roaring at them.

Well bud, I can understand addiction.....

I'm that kind of way about "fun" things.

But, but, but - even though I quit smoking cigs when I was eight - and don't know "that" addiction and can't offer words of advise that mean a thing - I would hope you kick this one.

Some addictions have "some worth" - cigs have none.

For all the obvious reasons I don't need to go into.

Good luck.

BIG FUCKING MISTAKE!!

I just had a beer........ can you say HUGE FUCKING "TRIGGER"!!!

Sometimes I am such a fucking dolt!

Walk a mile for a Camel...... JESUS H. ALL DANCIN' CHRIST I'D CRAWL THROUGH TWO MILES OF RAZOR WIRE AND BROKEN GLASS PUSHING A SMALL DOG TURD WITH MY NOSE FOR TWO PUFFS OFF A DuMAURIER RIGHT NOW!

More beer.... or maybe rum... yeah......that'll calm me down.

I need a fucking "sponsor" or a hypnotist or sedation or something.......

Me, too

Hey Ex,

Hang in there, I gave the damned things up a week ago Wednesday, and it's gotten easier. Don't give up. Stay away from smokers! At least for the short term. Don't buy any and don't borrow any! If you slip, THROW THEM AWAY as soon as sanity returns, preferably by breaking them up into little pieces and then pissing all over them. That way the time it takes to dig them out of the trash, dry them out in the oven, and handroll them will give you time to think, "WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?"

You make it sound like you would be some kind of trial by fire??????

Boooooo. Don't encourage people to quit smoking. The less that smoke the fewer folks to bum smokes off of.

So kids, remember. Ebes says "Smoke em if you got em." :D

I don't got 'em and i'm now too pickeled to go get 'em.

hi expertise,
i couldn't pass up this post... I quit smoking two years ago. It is with out a doubt the best gift I ever gave myself and my family. I feel better but I don't think there will ever be a time that I don't miss it. Just hang in there...it really does get easier.
Best of luck!

Hey Expertise,

Have you heard about the little thing that's like an inhaler? It looks like a frappin tampon but it has worked for two friends of mine. You just carry it around with you and when you are jonesin for a cigarette you pull it out and puff away. They quit and stayed finished with cigarettes for over a year now.
But if you've been trying to quit this summer, haven't you tried this method yourself?

Another thing I could never do, as I don't have the willpower, is to quit smoking. Lucky thing that I never started in the first place.

Hang in there Expertise!!

i quit 2 months ago using the patch for 5 days. it stopped the cravings but the dreaming was too vivid for me and i couldnt tell when i was dreaming and when i was awake. i decided to quit the patch too!! LOL . i am serious about that.

my doctor told me that i might gain 10-12 lbs. which is fine as i am 6-2" and 170lbs. he said the only thing to watch out for is the snacking. most people do it when they get the cravings, but do not pay attention to what they are snacking on or how much and the next thing they know, they have gained 30 lbs.

i dont get the cravings now. if i did, i used to think of a song or something and go for a walk and worked it off. it is mostly changing your habits of when you light up and catching yourself when you are doing it.

wishing you all the best, and hang in there Ex!!
