In Stuart Florida a woman had her purse snatched. It was a louis Voiton Purse worth more than $2K. Inside the purse was more than $12K.

She said she was carrying this amount because she was moving and needed the money for her move.

Who in the hell carries that kind of money even for moving?

Cat

People who will pay $2K for a stupid, and no doubt incredibly ugly and nearly useless, hand bag. That's who.

Someone who wants to move without leaving a paper trail, paying cash and using false names will let you do that. Also, someone who deals in cash or has a cash only business. *wink wink*

Sometimes Cat, peoples have things they don't need.

Sometimes, they really need them.

Who knows wierd shit happens, bad things happen to good people, not that I am a good people, but I try. I am not strange but strange things happen to me. I see people wearing earrings that cost more than my car. My electricity is about to be cut off, I told them don't worry, lots of checks is coming to me and then I will just zip one off to them, well, no checks came or got zipped.

Too bad, I am not complaining but I will be missing around here for awhile. I just wish that lady would have paid my electric bill with her spare change.

See ya, Lisa.

:rose:

Her handbag's worth as much as my car. I can't assimilate the number of zeroes after the 1 you would need in your bank account to justify spending that much on a handbag.

Just guess--it's an inverse ration to those on her IQ.

Lisa, I'm sorry you're facing such a rough patch. Hang in there and hurry back.

If I had the money, I'd buy a handbag that expensive, but that's just me.

I would not, however, be so fucking dee dee dee as to carry that much money on me, regardless of the situation.

Lock them up or shoot them?

Worth twice as much as my car :D
Worth twice as much as my laptop.
Worth more than my diamond engagement ring.

Those are the most expensive things I own and added all together they still aren;t worth double what her handbag cost.
<shakes head in disbelief>
Oh to have that much money...

Am I the only person reading this that bought their car new? ($24,000)

That is a ridiculously priced purse though.

However, I could see myself carrying $12,000 cash on my person. I've had up to $3,000 in the past, and my tastes in material items have gotten more expensive over the years...

Haven't the money to buy a new car and don't see the point even if I did, they depreciate by at least 40% as soon as you take it off the drive!
Wait two years and they're much more affordable... Mind you, mine's an N reg, so it's way older than that.

Have done, but not for thirty years. Doesn't make sense - you can get a good one year old one second hand for about half the price.

Makes me wish I knew who robbed her so I could have someone lay in wait for them;) I could use a tidy sum of money.

Trust my mind to stop saying poor woman and start going evil

Nope. But this is the AUTHOR'S Hangout. And while there are exceptions, struggling writers, as a class, have a well-deserved reputation for being financially challenged.

And I wonder, how many of the ladies here have half a closet full of older purses they wouldn't be caught using again? Hmmmm....

Oh I have a few handbags, but I never spend more than a fiver on a bag. I'm a budget girl.

nope. I have 2 handbags, both black. One is the gargantuan mum's tote all with everything but the kitchen sink in it. The other is the evening out, can carry the keys, ID and a fiver (it doesn't get much use).
I keep them till they disintegrate, then get another (unless I've already got the replacement in a sale - I had one sit unused in the closet for 12months waiting for the final end of its predecessor, but it was a $120 leather bag that I got for $15).
