I would like to add that you should check your sent messages folder too, that is the part that really piles up.

Or, you could just click the little box, so you don't get a reciept at all. Which is what I do btw.

I don't get too many PM's but you are right it's a good idea to keep an eye on them because they pile up sometimes!!

I was having that problem a few days back, I think it was mostly happening with the RE: messages instead of the new ones.

But, mine seems to be working fine now.
