I have a friend here at work who, for some reason, starting joking about certain bdsm type toys, trying to shock me. Oh he thought he was being so very funny talking about whips, chains and the stereotypical stuff. You should have seen his jaw drop when I told him if one was going to use those things on me they should use a spreader bar for both legs and feet, a blind fold and some good ear plugs if I am really going to get some enjoyment out of it. Then I proceeded to tell him about the benefit of pop-rocks and ice when being held into such a position.
Gotta love it.
many many MANY of my friends joke about it with me, cause they just don't get it...I have tried to explain it to them, but I think it is a place they don't want to go, so they are content making the stereotypical jokes...it doesn't bother me all that much...they have no idea what they are missing...
Definetly, all the time... only a couple of them know that I am actually into it. So when I come left field with real info and a correction to their joke (i laugh it off) but it makes them think and wonder. The few that know, give me a knowing smirk... and the rest of them think its a joke
Interesting isn't it? How common that is. Rather than feeling like the butt-end of a joke, I often pity the joker. Curious about what fantasies they are repressing because of the social stigma they are stuck in.
I think it's kind of sweet, in a innocent way. Some of my friends own a pair of furry wrist cuffs and they consider that to be the "dirtiest" it can get. Sometimes they can do something as outrageous as wear the cuffs on their waist, hanging from the belt loops.
I make jokes about BDSM on a rather frequent basis and I’m repressing very little. Just because someone makes an ‘incorrect’ joke doesn’t mean they lack information.
no, it doesn't, but you can often tell who is making a joke because they don't understand, or making a joke because they can find the humor in what they do...I personally can find humor in it...and i am quite able to laugh at myself about it...
