Well, how about it? Ever had it done to you? I saw a thread about it in the main personals forum, but it was more of a sexual nature, and I'm just wondering about it in general.

I was once at a comedy club. My girlfriend practically held my hand up when he asked the audience for volunteers. Anyway, after I gave the bird to the imaginary cops BEFORE being told to gesture to them (bit of my sub-conscious seeping through), some part in the back of my mind freaked out and I ended up with a seizure on stage. I wasn't sure how to feel that she was more embarrassed about it than I was.

So, anyone else ever been subjected to that? And how strange was it being told by multiple people afterwards the things that YOU did and have no memory of?

yes, to quit smoking, it lasted 28 weeks, and I am considering it again....

Speaking as a professional in the medical field, DON'T DO IT, YOU DUMBASS!!!

I have no room to talk, I smoke nearly 2 packs a day sometimes.

I have, for relaxation...

and it works. I still have the cds and use them when my illness if flaring and I cannot relax through it.

Throughout my entire time at med school, I was always amazed at the complexities of the human mind, how it works, how we develop all the weird little tendencies like we do, but what always astounded me the most was how effective the effects from the phrase "mind over matter" proved to be.

I'm glad to hear that those CDs work for you, I'd much rather have someone concentrate their mind than pump drugs through them if I can get the same effect.

Of course, the darker depths (and banal trivialities) of peoples minds scared (and bored) me enough to keep from going into the psych field. But needless to say, I think hypnosis is amazing. It's like logging into /root for your brain.

It helps me battle the old fight or flight mechanism. Helps m e let go of fear, pain and dread...and lets me relax enough to well...heal a bit faster.

Chronic progressive illness sucks, and is a lot of mind game playing with oneself. This helps me let that go when it all comes crashing down.

I think the mind/body connection is very strong, and find keeping to the positive, letting go of the negative, and RELAXING often helps me through the flare, and gets me back on my feet.
