Why can't there be some magic wand that transfer all info from one phone to another whether or not it is operable? And why do they keep changing the way functions work from one series to another?

Things don't change with a sim card? The people at the store wouldn't change it over for you?

Did you buy an iphone?

No, the sim card worked fine. But I had pics saved to the phone, emails that were saved, and voice mails (like my brothers voice) that couldn't be transferred because my old phone wouldn't hold a charge. And it has to "work" to be able to transfer that type of info.

And, believe it or not, the Wi-Fi at the Verizon store was out. Plus, they said they don't do all transfers for people anymore because it takes too long. They did give me an info sheet and a web site, but to no avail if I can't get the old phone to hold a charge. which was the reason for the new phone!

I'm sorry, Apple. Can you get a new battery for it? I know you already have a new phone, but I hate that you'd lose your brother's voice mails. My phone is still a Galaxy Note3, and I just bought a new battery for it on Amazon. If not, please don't give up. There has to be a way, and maybe they will show grace if you explain how important it is to you.

Is there a local computer/phone repair geek in your area?

Can it be backed up while plugged in?

Maybe man-spreading is an effort to get comfortable, rather than an assertion of dominance.
