This may be too late for the Brits amongst us, but the rest of us Europeans may find this helpful: http://www.euprofiler.eu. It's similar to Political Compass but a hell of a lot better.

It seems that the party I'm closer to in all of Europe is Det Radikale Venstre, from Denmark.

I just typed in the website and it worked just fine. Living in the U.S. where we don't get any vote on this subject, I played like I was in the Old Country. snicker It appears I'm in the Lega Nord! Eh! They have the hottest chicks running for office so I guess that makes sense.

They have the hottest chicks running for office because they cast them among TV stars that will grab the attention of people, rather than because of their policies. ;)

As I expected (and how I voted), my profile most closely matches the Liberal Democrats.

Phew!

Thank goodness my choices matched my choice!! That would have been embarrassing otherwise!

On a sideways topic, I couldn't believe the size of the voting form for the EUropean elections! It was over 2 ft. long and around 9 inches wide, and quite thick paper........folding it to put it in the box was interesting.

Can't wait to see the results. We also voted for local councillors, and I'm hoping we have a big change in the ruling party for our county council. The last lot made a real pig's ear, and most of us want them out!!

Do you think that having the European vote on the same day as county council may lead people to vote on local and national issues rather than European issues? Or is this countrywide political clusterfuck I've been hearing about on SkyNews in 15 minutes every 15 minutes for the past 3 months so big that everyone will be voting on the BNP?

I only have one issue. The dissolvement of the Commission and a comprehensive re-writing of the Council's role. Before that is tasken care of, the whole organization will continue to be a giant floating turd that stinks up what could be a lovely beach.

Eventually, but it was very slow, I ended up where I expected to be - and where I'd voted.

I'm not revealing HOW I voted. ;)

No real confusion here. Green Form, local elections, 3 candidates.

Euro junket, yellow form, 12 candidates. Pick the least likely "alternative".

Euro box has larger slot for form.

I think that most people, even the most fervent pro-EU, agree that the model and the institutions are flawed, even if the concept and the project are worthy. What would you re-write it to be, though? Isn't that the real issue?

Was I supposed to answer seriously to see the hot chicks? Where are the hot chicks?

I just took the test as if I were in England, and it appears I would have voted for the Liberal Democrats.

There are less parties to choose from than what I have in Portugal, but all the options only makes me feel less comfortable with the choice I have made. I have decided to go with the party that best expresses my views, but it's not one of the big ones, and I don't know if my vote will help them get even one MP.

Well there's Mara Carfagna, Minister for Equal Opportunity

Barbara Matera, Candidate for the Europarliment

and from Romania, Elene Basescu, also a Europarliament candidate.

You only get to see hot chicks if you're the Prime Minister of Italy.

I'll vote against him!

There we go. Grazie!

OK, all of you non-Brit non-Irish non-Dutch non-Czech non-Slovak non-Latvian non-Maltese non-Cypriot European litsters you. It's time to get out and vote. I just did it.

Still trying to figure out what the hell they want.

Oh, I'll throw in a vote. If nothing else something centrist to keep the fringe yahoos, the anti-everything revolutionaries and the neo nazis, on a safe distance.

Absolutely. That's always the problem with elections with low participation rates: all the wackos show up to make it look like there's more of them...

I'm worried.

The results of our local county elections showed strong support for UKIP and BNP - possibly not enough for them to get seats in our region - but it shows an unpleasant side of our community.

In the County Council elections locally UKIP pushed Labour into fourth or fifth place behind the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and/or the Green Party.

Haw! Given the current state of New Labour, that's no surprise. Gordon Brown is as out of touch with reality as Jesse Jackson.
