Well, the problem about making transfers now is that if you ake more than one, you'll start losing points (2 per extra transfer - only the first one is free).

This means that unless you have money in the bank, you can only trade a player for another one that is cheaper or costs the same. If you sell an expensive midfielder and a weak defender and use the cash to buy two average/good players, you'll make 2 transfers and lose 2 points... Like I said before, it may be worth it, but it's your call.

Big changes for Matchday 2 - sticking by the faith of Portugal and England. They both have to win, should get big points if all goes to plan.

I made the same reasoning. My joker in Preditor is on Portugal to win against Russia, simply because they MUST win. Figo was my least scoring midfielder in the first stage - except for the Davids debacle - but I'm keeping him as captain. In defence, I brought in an Englishman to replace my Czech. I would have chosen a Portuguese, but thinking ahead to stage 3, I don't want to have only Portuguese and Spanish players on defence. There's no way that match is going to end in a goalless draw.

I must admit to a little thinking ahead too... I want to have extra Dutch, because I think they will really hurt Latvia in Phase 3, and I am tempted to assume Denmark will beat Bulgaria... and England should do Russia (though I have three Englishmen already). Arrrgh... but I would have to sell Ljundberg or Camorenese... both tempting, but I will kick myself if I lose points on the transfer and then they have good second games. But C was so disappointing.. maybe I will wait for a team announcement and then decide.

I'm so far down it makes no difference!

If Portugal and England qualify, they will probably both be in second place, so they can't meet until the Final, optimistic may be, but hell, it's only a game, not life and death!

By the way, notice player values have changed, glad I bought Deco yesterday, he's more expensive today.

Made a lot of changes to my FF team. I'm actually not regretting my expenseive trades (screw the costs, I'm gonna need them), and I now got the hang of the tactics. Apart from an over confidence in Swedes, I have safer cards now, I think.

From a disasterous first day, here's my not very qualified outlook for day 2.

I have confidence in Spain. Greece have had their good day, and noone is going to underestimate them again.
* Helguera, Joaquin and Raúl is on my starting team. But Dellas is on the bench and might end up in the line before tonight.

I should had kept a portugese on my team, but what the hell. I'm not too sure about this game, but I trhink they'll get their act together against Russia.

England will show the Swiss that the red part is supposed to be in the cross.
* Bought Gary Neville. Needed a good defender. he is one. And English.

France has better focus now. Probably still nervous, but will beat Croatia in the 2:nd half.

Bulgaria is up for another whooping against Denmark.
* Got only one dane, but his name is Ebbe Sand.

Sweden - Italy is my only draw. Italy has the pressure, Sweden has the confidence. I predict an early Swede offensive rush and lead, followed by a massive destructive defense play. We're good at that.
* Källström and Ibrahimovic is on (Even though Källström probably wont play from start in RL, but I'm short of midfielder options. he'll get field time though, so who knows?)

Germany will have no problem with Latvia who also showed that you have to be alert when they are on the field. The germans will be that.
* Kahn, Baumann, Kehl, Ballack will play.

The Dutchies will have a tough time against Czechs but make it in the end.

I agree with most of Liar's assessment, although I think Germany might not find Latvia such pushovers... it should be a win, but the Germans could just come unstuck. I also have Italy down for a draw - I really can't see Sweden scoring against them. I have France down as my joker, because I really can't see Croatia dealing with them.

Group A? Well, it really should be better for Portugal today. But I really have to pray Spain are on fire - Raul and Morientes up front, Puyol and Casillas in my team too. So, 8-0 and you guys can eat my dust *g*

Hey everybody.
Guess what, I woke up this morning even more disappointet than I was yesterday. We really should have won

Oh well, whatsoever. In the end I hope Germany AND The Netherlands will go through. Even though I like a little surprise now and then (and I think the Chechz Republic has quite a good team) I want to see those big names coming through.
The finals would only be half as entertaining without the known stars instead of the underdogs or dark horses.

So I'm waiting for today's beginning of phase 2. I got my joker on Germany winning against Latvia. I think this should be a certain score. I also got more points in the Predictor game than first I thought. I'm in the midfield of the Lit League, I can live with that.

I really hope I'll see two good games today because I won't be able to see any games tomorrow. (which is pretty annyoing since England and France are playing)
But Portugal is under a lot of pressure whioch could make for an entertaining game and in Greece vs. Spain should be some goals involved.

So bring it on.....
