Etiquette Question

I keep running into this problem. Too many people wanting to talk to me at once. Either PMs on here, Skype, Kik, other places on the Internet, or even phone calls. This is one reason I started my party thread. I figured that way, people could all talk to me at once. However...

Most of the people I communicate with want privacy and/or want to talk to me alone. So... What should I do? I have resorted to just leaving Lit for a time and telling people that I'm busy. I hate having to play favorites. I hate feeling like I'm rude as in telling one person that I'm talking to another. Unless of course I am talking about something important and then of course I will at least say that.

Sometimes I will say that I was talking to another person first. This seems reasonable. But sometimes I really would prefer talking to the person who contacted me 2nd or 3rd or... I know, I know. I shouldn't talk so many people at once. And sometimes I simply can't do what they might want me to do, even if the desire to do it.

So... How do you guys and gals handle this sort of thing? Thanks!

Jada! I always like seeing you here. Seeing you makes me remember my brief but hostile time in the playground and you were someone I thought was so sweet and genuine

Your question is one I struggle with deeply, especially when I used to go on the lit chat and id be in a good conversation , but then someone even more appealing would come to talk! Now that problem isn't so bad for me cause I'm lazy and really only talk to a few special favorites.

My advice is that you'll either have to juggle then all, or keep letting people know you're busy. You have to do what's best for you. So if that means cutting a convo short to make time for someone new , and that's what you're feeling , then go ahead and do it! Don't feel bad about it either . You can always talk to them again another time!

I hope that brief advice helped. Have a happy new year lovely! :rose::D

Okay first of all you owe no one your time.

Secondly, you need to do what is most interesting and beneficial for yourself. That means that of all the people that would like to capture your time you need to award time to those that you enjoy spending time with the most. Those that you find the most interesting titillating or whatever it is that you're looking for.

That said, it's good to not leave people hanging. Just like you wouldn't simply hang up a phone without saying goodbye if you're engaged in an actual conversation with someone just simply say Hey listen I've got some others making demands on my time I'll talk to you another time and exit the conversation.

What will help immensely is you need to go to the command post and you need to set your settings to Invisible that way no one knows when you are on or not and you can pick and choose from the various p.m. who you want to communicate with at any given time. Sure if you're posting a thread they'll know that you're currently online but they have no reason to assume that you even had a chance to get all the way through your p.m. even notice if they've sent you one.

This will encourage people to engage with you in the thread in hopes that you will p.m. them. Which is probably how you should work it you should initiate the conversations that you're interested in.

It's either that or hire a staff of Ghost Riders

..or ghost writers if you prefer.

I need to hire a voice-to-text proofreader

Turn your PMs off, sign out of all that other worthless shit and delete those accounts, unplug your phone.

I have a mobile phone used two or three times a YEAR.

My landline has two or three calls a week.

Why?

Because I have hearing problems with telephones. I tell friends and family to use email. I can sort and select which emails to respond to, and in which order, when convenient to me.

Advertising cold calls? My response is "Sorry. I can't hear you." The cold calling has reduced dramatically.

If I want to talk to someone, they have to be in front of me and with no distracting other noises in the room. Going to most restaurants? I won't hear my companion(s) unless they speak directly into my ear.

I can understand my father's attitude in his old age. If he didn't want to converse, he would turn off his hearing aids, take one out of an ear, hit it a couple of times and say "They're not working. You'll have to write what you want to say."

That reduced his contact with assholes. :D

My best friend was diagnosed with that same hearing condition ( the part where background noise drowns out those talking to you) at a relatively young age, so i know of what you speak.

I gave up playing in bands due to hearing loss; he still plays, in four bands no less, but those are extraneous to the point.

The rest of your post is amusingly familiar too.

The intersection of Curmudgeon and Hearing Loss; is it chicken and egg?

Sorry. My dad had the same problem. But if you whispered "I have ice cream", he could hear that, always!

Is it Etiquette or manners?
It is only polite to wait until one conversation is over before starting another. So to be polite you should tell the second person you are engaged in a conversation and you will get back to them later.

Simpler than that. On Lit, etiquette dictates you priortize by proximity to the most satisfying orgasm.

Do people still use kik? Haven't even seen it mentioned in a long time.
I just use the messenger that came with my phone. Don't bother with snap or kik or any of that. It does all the same shit but none of those dumb filters. Or maybe it does have them. I don't know. Anyway, never quite got the point of using 3rd party apps. The shit on your phone works the same and no ads or bullshit.
If you want to be anon then you shouldn't be using your phone unless it's a burner.
