When a hand holds another hand, fingers entwine making the hands...one. Any relationship, is the same way. The strength of the relationship is not stronger if the partners have the same skill set (given intelligence in a certain field for example), but is stronger when like the holding hands, each partner adds something the other isnt as good with.
