Look, I agree about the whole taxes are too high thing (I'm Ron Paulista Libertarian/Republican), but can't we cool it on the politics thing for now? This is first and foremost an authors board here, about writing, and the politics black hole keeps sucking us all back in. That sounds strange coming from me, of all people, but I'm tired of constantly bickering with old friends whom I (despite their politics) admire and very much respect. I'm tempted to take a page from English Lady's book and boycott political threads for a time. Especially since my political views are already pretty much on record at this point.

I don't like damaging friendships and fighting with old friends from Lit, and having to back away from Lit to cool off anymore. I want to be able to have a friendly chat about writing and other things in life with my old friends, thank you very much.

If you're using Firefox, check Stella's signature line for an add-on that would make a decision to avoid all political threads far easier.

That will allow you to erase from sight even Pure's regular barrage of inflammatory topics, which is otherwise impossible with the normal forum software.
