AND, the utility company that accidentally broke my fence has finally dragged their posteriors out here to assess the situation!

That would be 10 weeks post incident. Requiring only 3 calls and conversations to the original number I was given. Two calls (noticeably less polite) to the operations office (once tracked down). One pissy voicemail to same office.

They came while I was in the middle of composing a scathing email.

What I lack in muscle I make up for in determined persistence.

It’s curious to be living through such a turbulent period of changing social mores. It throws a variety of situations in such relief.

There are strongly held opinions I remember being expressed by adults as a young child that were near universal. Opinions that have done one-eighties in up and coming generations.

Sexuality is one such.

In that case, it’s so clear, seeing the changes, how much our country's religious roots have affected our sexual identity.

It’s tied so strongly to the marriage compact. In a creepily weird way.

-No sex before marriage
-No extramarital sex
-Only heterosexual sex
-Only certain kinds of sex

-No sex education

^^That last one has been on my mind a lot lately. There is such a wide array of sexuality.

Knowledge sequestered. Curiosity stifled. Non-compliance socially ostracized.

All that shame, guilt, and diminished sense of self that assaults people who don’t fall in with the narrow range of expected norms.

And it’s a . . . body function! (That makes it sound kinda gross, but you know what I mean. )

Why should that be tied up - legally, morally, obligatorily - with another person?

And what about all abro and fray sexuals? Why should they be denied marriage? What have they done that they should be left out in the cold when it comes to romantic or companionable marriages?

I remember the Endless Curiosity crowd planning, but not how far along things had gone. Some truly inventive ideas on how to deal with costumes and anonymity!

I should say here that I was not responsible for any of the inventive ideas.

This is simply surreal. Beautiful shot. Beautiful period.

I'm so disappointed it was too cloudy to see the corona. There is talk of heading to Iceland in 2026.
