The right equipment makes all the difference!
I am so klutzy. I would seriously hurt myself on those, or worse, someone else.

Speaking of….
Spookies (1986). Where to start, where to start?
It appears to have been two movies, stitched together, as it were. Due to some legalities (argument of the parties involved) the editing was never properly finished, and parts of the film lost. A new director was hired to create more footage and conjure a finished product.
Oooh, boy.
However, once you know all that the movie makes so much more sense! Strip out the added material and you can see where the original film (Which was going to be called something like Twisted Souls, I think) was going.
Lots of monsters. From the first AND second filming.
Film 1: Spider woman, snake demons, a Grim Reaper, some strange rotting demon Ouija girl, And muck men. The much men were kinda epic.
Film 2: Witch, blue vampire child, zombies, a convoluted and disturbing relationship between an elderly sorcerer and his…kinda undead wife, and last, but absolutely not least...a blue werecat.
Did I mention some of the monsters were animatronic?
Animatronic.
The stitched plot, on the other hand, made no sense. NO SENSE.
-The kinda dead girl - who popped out of a coffin - was in full 80s makeup and hair.
-The bad boy of the group wore pants and a shirt made out of garbage bags. With a white stripe taped vertically down the front…..
My. Eyes.

Man, sounds grim.
Unrelated: See you in nine months!
(You didn’t think I would visit that thread after seeing that you posted on it?)

Peeking in just because.

The visuals in Clash of the Titans are amazing. And I want a robot owl.

Spent my lazy afternoon re-watching Class of the Titans, 1981.
It’s been forever, and it’s undeniable that some of the superimposing special effects are looking pretty dated, but it still thrills me. Ray Harryhausen and his claymation do not disappoint.
Always and forever epic.
I remember being fascinated with this movie when young. Heck, I wanted to BE in this movie!
Critics thought is was lackluster? *pfft*
Magnifique.![]()
I always loved that movie. The Medusa scene is still one of the best. As far as the effects go, I consider them way better than the ones in the remake. Harryhausen forever!

J < And don’t forget Charon the Ferryman. That guy scared me when I was little.
< Nowadays the gods treating everyone like chess pieces is the scary part. Haha![]()
Judi Bowker was so hot in that movie. >

So, little change of pace seemed in in order.
Sunset Boulevard, 1950.
I've only seen it once before. It made an impression, but it's been so long I could remember why. It is…quite the powerful piece. Superbly cast.
The house. The decor. (That bed!)
It so….inevitable. You can see exactly what's happening and know that nothing will slow that inexorable slide into disaster. The people, too. It's interesting how unsympathetic the two main characters are, yet the viewer still invests in their arcs. It's billed as a black comedy film noir, which is a little surprising? Noir, certainly. Comedy, black or otherwise, I'm just not sure I see.
Curious that I don't seem to remember seeing either of the starts in anything else.
Magnificent film. That last scene. Where she's coming down the staircases.
"All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."
Every bit as chilling as any horror movie climax. Just saying.
Fantastic ending and speech. Even the beginning is iconic. Not every movie starts with the lead dead in a pool and narrating. I think he narrated, right?
)I want to throttle every anti-vaxxer ever. We're supposed to be out of this shit and they ruin it by being assholes.
What I wouldn't give to be in the French Quarter again.
