I found it fascinating! This is quite verbose but interesting as hell: the gist is that the "real" molecules that used to give perfumes their soul are now outlawed and new molecules research and approval is too spendy for small perfumers who want to do niche. Mass industry relies on cheap and safe and successful molecules that ate, in years, increasily "all the same".
And yes: people spritz and splash waaaaaaay too much.
P.S. OMG. I swear this is the last informative and serious post for today ... yesterday I missed your posts and I really wanted to respond to all of you![]()
My read was that the top image was targeted at gay men (the light colors, the standout pattern, structure of the pants, accessory choice, background) whereas they digitally altered the all of those things in the bottom image to better target straight men and women.New word! It’s a great word that I didn’t know existed and describes this perfectly.
From your latter post with the pintrest link, I thought these two images were interesting.

So the model is obviously gorgeous and masculine. But clothed. And that to me (as a man, so I could be way wrong here) makes it even more structured purely for straight men and women. They want straight men to think “he’s a stud, I want to be like him” and women to think “he’s a guy who will get shit done and be sexy at the sane time”.
I posted both because I thought it was interesting how they took one pic but digitally altered almost everything else including the tats.
