So, to answer my own question:

I don't do younger. I've tried it, but ... see, I like to think I'm clever. However, my clever depends heavily on movie and music quotes that the young ones just don't understand. I also have little patience for the drama of youth. I'm not saying their drama isn't real or that it isn't justified. It's just not where I'm at in life and I've no desire to go back there. I like men who are my age and older. I don't really have a "too old" limit as long as we have common interests, but again it depends on whether or not they can appreciate my funny.

Pictures ... eh, not really my thing. The primary reason is that I don't want to feel obligated to send one in return. I don't need to imagine that you are someone you aren't. It's not about you. It's about the fact that I am more attractive in my fantasies than in reality. I'd like to hold on to that. Thanks!

I have told this to the woman (age 52) I'm dating, along with the comment "After all, we have to do something else with the OTHER 20 hours a day, and we can only sleep for so much of it!". Fortunately for me, she loves musicals and SF literature and movies and Galavant, so we have plenty of fodder for repartee.

As for physical attractiveness - well, one may find sculpted bodies of whatever aesthetic pleases one easily. What means more to me is the trust given when allowed to learn about someone's sexuality and fantasies, and being able to provide that (aural or textual) spark that helps them to pleasure. In that context, a picture of someone is more a sign of intimacy, and hence endearing AND exciting, regardless of how objectively attractive someone is. Or y'know, something like that!
