Not sure why that's hard to believe. Not much reason to reinvent the wheel trying to curate a personal collection of downloaded pictures with descriptive names and tags when it's already available online. Unless they're pictures I took or ones I paid for, not much incentive to have a local copy.
 
Unless you're like me and keep a folder of incentive pictures to rattle the old noggin ever so often. Over half of my stories have come from photos I ran across.
 
How long would you wait before pulling and resubmitting a story that has been stuck at pending?
I've seen some people mentioning doing this, and was wondering at what point it might be beneficial to try and do that?

Don't do that. If it's been more than 10 days, send a polite PM (conversation envelope icon, top right) to Laurel who does all the vetting of stories. Explain your story (enter title here...) has been held up in pending.

If you pull your story, it just goes to the back of the queue.

May be true. Last tie I had one delayed more than a week, I reposted with a polite note that I had done so because of an inferred delay. It was published the next day, so...
