*Embracing the Positive*

New Yorkers stepping up to the plate.

They are even volunteering to help police, firefighters and the red cross. Way to go NY:)

I turned the tv off hours ago. So thank you for sharing that. Every little bit of hope is what America needs right now.

there was a damn big conference of European doctors in NYC today. damn good ones, to boot! go out to help, they did!

and now for something completely different.....
i didn't have to go to my Calc class, too! :D

Hi Bratty,

I wish i could be there to pull out those who are still trapped. Our tv is still on as is the radio. As i want to hear about every single survivor they rescue from what was once the World Trade Center.

I wish i could do something to help out my fellow citizens. That would give me so much satisfaction to be able to help. Just spoke to my dad last night and Australia is in shock over what has happened and they are fully behind the United States.

That makes me proud as an Aussie now living here to know that. Australians never will back down like the US we stand proud and tall.

ive just heard they've found 9 people so far ... one woman and the rest were police and fire fighters ... they've also been saying that they did manage to evacuate some people from the time when the first plane hit

one fire fighter was one the 83rd floor he tucked into a ball and went all the way down as the building collasped but lived he was one of the people they found this morning/today

One positive......

Boston investigaters have found evidence as to five suspects. Including an Arabic manual of flight instructions left in a rental car. Apparently they entered through Canada, went to Portland Maine and flew to Logan Airport, where they hijacked the planes. There appear to be ties to Bin Laden.

Narrowing the focus as to responsibility!

It seems as if everyone I have encountered in the last 24 hours have been ...softened ...for lack of a better word....I have had people...complete strangers wave to me from their cars as they drove past....I had to go to the store and everyone seemed so gentle and friendly. I have had to make a lot of phone calls to several parts of the country pertaining to different things, and everyone was so kind and helpful. I know some of it is due to people being numb.........but hopefully it is mostly due to people banding together and reaching out to fellow Americans. I can only hope that this positive aspect stays around.

You can do something. Go donate blood. I've never done it before, I'm terrified of needles. But this is the only way I know of that I can help the victims, so I am going to do it.

The radio station here says that the wait right now is 5 hours...out of the blood center and down the street.

Its really touching to see so many people wanting to help others, but its a shame that it takes a tragedy like this to make it happen. :(

It is wonderful to see the way America is pulling together. To see people from all over going there to offer their services. Like Simply Me going as a nurse from where she lives to help them out. I also know other people who are going to contribute in any way that they can. I have already donated blood, but I wish there was more that I could do. This is a great place we live in, and I, for one, will never forget that. God Bless America !:) :)

Good from bad

The positive is: We desperately needed to unify as a country. And mellow out on the in-fighting, finger-pointing, scandal chasing, and playing the blame game on ourselves. We've lost our way a bit. We needed to remember the point.

That's now happened.

So right! The day to day petty problems have been placed into proper perspective, when face with such a horrific action. They tried to tear us apart and have succeeded in strengthening us instead!

Hi ~melia~

I am going to do that, at least that is something i can do to help!

We CAN pull through this. It MAY take some time, but we WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are resilient as a people

Americans have a funny way about them, like my family.

We can fight like cats and dogs and disagree about every little thing. We all have stong personalities and are free thinkers.

But, should someone else attack, demean or malign one of us, we pull together to support each other and when necessary, attack lol

Seriously, as a relatively young country, we have survived many trials and tragedies. We have managed to remain strong and preserve our integrity and way of life. We will do so now.

My thoughts and prayers go to everyone that has been affected by this tragedy. It is saddening that it would take a disaster of this magnitude to bring this country together as a community, but I think it is a blessing all the same.

My biggest prayer right now is that the cycle of violence stops. I want the people who perpetuated this to be brought to justice- absolutely!- but I hope that the anger and fear that we are all feeling is not misdirected to innocent people.

I also want to take the time to say THANK YOU to this community- I am proud to be a part of such a caring and dynamic group of people.

Mad Love-
Mz_Scarlett
