Elia laughed delightedly at his teasing and the thwack of his spoon on her wrists.
Her eyes turned pensive however, as she remembered another time in the distant past. He had used a large wooden spoon that time on her small bottom. It was the only time she could ever remember truly feeling pain by his hand.
And, it had been her fault. She had confessed her guilt to laying a trap and nearly fatally injuring the bully that had taunted her for so long. She had unknowingly used her gift to lure him into the trap, nearly killing him by doing so, her hatred and anger so fully aroused by his actions and words.
Elia looked up and smiled at Valen, dismissing the painful memories from her mind.
"You are a good teacher Valen and a good friend." Elia hesitated for the briefest moment,
"Valen, teach me... of the things I do not know. Please?" She waited, holding her breath for his response.
