Elia was stunned by the force of emotions that slammed into her. The strongest above all, frustration. Sadly, she felt the frustration was not in that he desired her, Elia. He desired, or had desired, another.
She felt her sadness settle deep within the pit of her stomach. Her Valen was in love with another. Elia idly wondered who it was then thrust that thought from her mind. She did not want to know, least she find herself sink to the despicable emotional state some called jealousy.
Of course Valen had other loves, other interests. To him, she was merely a student. A child charged to him by her father to further her education in the art of self-defense, as well as honing her own hunting skills. She knew that Valen had taken it farther, teaching her the arts as they pertained to the most specialized warriors within her father's kingdom. But, this night, the thought did not bring her joy and she found she had to fight to keep the sudden tears hidden behind her long, blonde lashes.
