Brilliant mind with outstanding achievements in Engineering, Business management and Science - or not? Comparable with such giants as Edison, Ford, Rockefeller, Gould or Carnegie - or like all of them, crooked, fraudulent, a bad guy?

Tesla a huge success. Twitter "X' not so much, though an interesting approach to Staff exit policy. Space venture - mixed results so far. Energy storage/distribution likely to earn him more than Tesla. AI - don't really know what he is up to.

Political impact. Biden deserved what he got for excluding Musk in favour of appeasing Legacy auto and the Unions. Trump, if elected, will I am certain, get what he deserves when Musk (and he will) tears him a new one!

Or is Musk just a misunderstood, sweet little man child?

I suspect that in the next 20 years Musk will have more impact on our lives than any politician of the last 30 years. What do you think?

Musk was given a shit ton of cash so he could buy PayPal and then sell it at its zenith. He then invested in companies like SpaceX and Tesla. He didn’t invent those companies and he didn’t make them better—other than infusing cash into them to allow them to thrive.

Personally Musk should have just concentrated on SpaceX and solar roof tiles. He did save some social media from the FEDs... I don't use twitter/X or fakebook so they will have to figure something else to get me. He loses many points for being trumps buddy. He’s unquestionably played a hands on role in designing Tesla’s product line, managing operations, and building the firm’s market cap of over a half trillion dollars. He’s a remarkably accomplished businessman and entrepreneur.

He’s also been responsible for cheaping out the product. Check out YouTube to see all of the videos of Tesla repairs and the complaints about how it’s basically crap on four wheels now. I remember taking one for a test drive when they first came out and they were amazing—the fit and finish was flawless. That’s when it was over $100k. Now they’ve tried to make them more affordable and they’re the LeCar of EVs.

Unlike Trump, he hires good people that run the Tesla and SpaceX for him. He’s basically running Twitter by himself and look what that got him.

He's a mixed bag. Yes, he's an annoying egotistical man child. But his achievements with PayPal, Tesla, and, especially, SpaceX, are impressive. SpaceX is an astonishing success, and he deserves a lot of credit for it. It would not have happened without him. He has single-handedly changed the game for getting things into space, for the better.

For me, the ballot is still out on his forays into social media. If he is consistently behind free speech, then I support him in that. There's no such thing as a "misinformation" exception to the First Amendment.

So, I think Elon probably is smart, but in the same way Trump, or Adam Neumann is smart. Elon’s super-power is the same as that of Trump’s or Adam Neumann… they’re excellent at convincing people to drop their reason and embrace bullshit.

The support for him here is evidence of that. Anyone who has actually done a deep dive into what he has done, and not just what he’s attached his name to, would realize that he is a super bullshitter. He isn’t a brilliant scientist or engineer, he is a world-class hyper salesman. He can start with almost nothing and spin into a story good enough to convince investors to spend billions.

The reason he’s ”changed” is so exceedingly obvious… he’s run out of investors and he’s promised continued massive growth. He needs to keep feeding the beast, and so now he needs people on the right to throw their investment dollars behind him as well and give him massive tax breaks to keep the money machine flowing.

It’s also easier dealing with people on the right, since they’re much more willing to be overtly corrupt. They live in districts where the leaders just have to say “liberuls want to abort ur babies and replace them with illegals” and they’ll get enough votes to win. Hell, Trump explicitly admitted to changing his position on electric cars overnight after talking about Elon’s donations.

For me, the disappointment is in the rest of us. Look above, and you’ll see people who talk about Elon as if he did any of those things. He didn’t, he just convinced rich people to give him money so that he could pay other people to do those things. Some could argue that, without him, those things might not have not been done. However, an equally valid argument is that, without him, those things would have been done better.

End of the day, it doesn’t matter. He lost all credibility with me when he started supporting Trump. This changed him from standard greedy money man to trump-worshipper. God will burn him.
