The new studio is getting some use. I had seven models in here two weeks ago as part of a promotional campaign for a new makeover business starting here in Miami. Last night I tried a few new things on myself. Here's the results:

I'll keep it alive for a while longer, but lately I've been feeling a bit lax in the poses — I can't think of any new ones and I fear the same old poses again and again are getting boring. I don't want my thread to become one of those that I hate with the thread owner posting a sequence of images that are virtually indistinguishable from each other. I like variety and if I can't supply that I won't waste your time with redundancy.

More playing with the new lights

I tried a new lighting technique this afternoon. I fired one the of the strobes at the background paper at very close range, to create a small pool of light behind the subject which gives a vignette effect. I stood with the main light in a softbox about 18 inches from my face to minimize any "spill" lighting onto the background. I also wanted to get really deep blacks in the shadows, so I didn't use any reflectors to fill the shadow areas:

Not exactly a new nude, but I have to wear clothes every now and then, you know!

On the coffee table

Not a coffee table book, but nudes on my coffee table (IKEA, $45).

Here's a quick rundown of the setup: I positioned both strobes on either side of the studio, firing towards the white background paper. I wanted the paper to look like it was lit from behind and underneath.

To give the floor that backlit appearance, I put the table on a sheet of plexiglass. This reflects the light from the background, reducing the shadows under the table.

There was quite a bit of extraneous edges and marks on the floor, so I cloned out those and thought about removing the table leg reflections, too, but in the end I think those give the image a little visual interest under the table.

No remote cord to remove digitally — I set the camera's interval timer to capture a frame every 30 seconds, then watched the clock on the wall, posing as the sweep second hand passed every half minute.

These I converted to black and white in Aperture and added a blue tint.

My god, you take some wonderful pictures, I know it's not the first time you've heard that, but I'll give credit where it's due. Very nice work... I like b&w's especially, and yours are beautiful...I like the coffee table nudes, and there's one farther down the page of you lying on your side, and you can just barely see your cock attached to the floor by a thin strand of precum...that's a great picture, and I couldn't help but think what a great close-up in b&w that would make...
