Ekserb

I've always struggled with math, but there is something about the visual aspects of fractal geometry that makes math seem a lot more interesting now. I am also a quilter, and I think it must appeal to that side of my creativity.

Ekserb... I have my virtual pom poms out and I'm getting them fluffed up for cheering you on! :rose:

I'd love to see a quilt made in a fractal pattern. I wonder if anyone's done this? Google!

I have just perused through your thread. You sir are beautiful, and you certainly have a gift for photography.

You talent has overwhelmed me.

I read of your accident and share the feelings of our fellow Litlandians. We are pleased that you are making a recovery and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you sharing you and your talent. Many blessing to you on your continued recovery.

I'm so glad you can use your camera again. Brilliant and caring friend to devise a work-around. Wishing you well on your continued recovery, and I love the fractal art.

Wow! Thank you so much!

It turns out I am able to use the camera-on-tripod method without the need for the remote shutter release as I'm finally able to reach the on-camera release while looking through the viewfinder. Sadly, I still haven't had an opportunity to drive out to the forest for any new photos as physical therapy has lately taken much of my time. Due to inherent difficulties in the VA's handling of my case, my last PT session was yesterday, so I will have some free time until the VA gets its act together and authorizes some more therapy.

I'd love to get outside early one morning for some foggy scenery, but this time of year is lousy for fog and the sun comes up so early and sets so late that I really have limited hours of outside activity—I need to avoid long sun exposure for at least another year as my skin continues to heal. (That last part kills me as you may have noticed from my photos that I used to have a really even tan.)

Fractal images are purely mathematical and are thus not limited in their level of detail or resolution. Once I've determined a composition I like, I can render the final image at virtually any size. The original file for this image, for example, is 10,000 pixels on the short side and over 18,000 pixels on the long side. I could go even bigger, but the file size for this is already over 250MB.

I had my first photo shoot since my release from the hospital and it felt great to be behind the camera again. A dear friend of mine was kind enough to pose for me and help me with the setup. The conditions were less than ideal, but I'm happy with the few photos we got to make. I'm looking forward to more!

Some things I'll need to work on: My fingertips are still a little numb from the elbow surgery, so I had difficulty feeling some of the camera's buttons while shooting. Also (and I knew this was going to be an issue), I can't use my left hand to zoom or compose while looking through the viewfinder (left elbow is still fused until the next surgery). I have to loosen the tripod head just enough to allow me to wiggle it around and adjust the composition through trial-and-error. It's a hassle, but not completely unworkable.

I love the window shade shadows, and these portraits are just beautiful. So glad you're finding your way behind the camera.

Great photos, Eskerb! Congratulations on having that first photo shoot under your belt, as well as for dealing with so much along the way for this. I am no photographer, but I can see how wonderfully you use light and shadows.

Of course, I'm still loving those fractals :D

Back in the saddle!! Yay!

She's lovely Ekserb. :)

Thank you, ladies. :)

Already on the "Done" list is applying for the Ocala Art Festival coming up in November and I'm already approved for the upcoming First Friday ArtWalk season starting in September. I need to get out to the forest and surrounding areas to get some new landscapes for these events.

Hi ekserb. I haven't visited Lit in ages, and have just read about your accident and subsequent recuperation. I'm glad you're feeling better now. Good luck on your planned exhibit and for your continuous recovery. :) :rose:

Thanks so much and welcome back! :)

I received word the other day that I have been accepted into the next Ocala Arts Festival, so now I have three months to buy a new tent for the show and make some new prints to sell. So happy!

So happy for you, you deserve to be seen Ekserb!! Yay!!

Saw your post in Unbounded's thread and I have to admit your photography's done very thoughtfully, thank you. Qsco's another fellow photographer who does nice things with light where black and white is concerned. I haven't even begun to tackle your magnificent index, but I will and am absolutely looking forward to it. :)

Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy the photos. :)

Another photo shoot with a professional model! :)

This is Naomi from Orlando. I coordinated this meeting through the Model Mayhem site and met her after driving down to her city. She knew of two locations that met the criteria I was looking for in an urban environment. We never made it to the second location as it got too dark to shoot, but managed to get rained on for an hour in this abandoned house. There I was, balancing a heavy camera and lens on one arm while shooting and holding an umbrella with the other. If anything says I'm healed enough to take pictures, it was this scene. :) And based on my experience with Naomi, I might be driving to Orlando more often to work with truly professional models.
