Hi there

My girlfriend and i had sex about four days ago, and now shes having pregnancy symptoms, like food cravings, and nausea. now when we had sex we didn't use a condom(yes i know an idiotic decision) but i never had an orgasm there was this one moment where i though i was going to have one but i never did, could it be possible that i ejaculated then without having the orgasm or without noticing?

There's a slight chance that she could have gotten pregnant despite the fact that you didn't cum, but it's not very likely that she would be having pregnancy symptoms if she is four days pregnant. Four weeks? Perhaps. Four days? Nah.

Oh the ignorance of natural things amazes me. I hate to break the news but you have live viable sperm coming out the end of your cock every time you have sex..without having to ejaculate at all. It's there bucko, like it or not. You can impregnate a female without ever ejaculatng while you are inside her. NO she can't possibly have real signs of pregnancy four days after having unprotected sex. She is probably scared that she might be preg and that's why she is manifesting these symptoms.

For goshsakes if she does not get pregnant by your ignorance and irresponsibility this time, she sure as hell will if you don't use condoms AND birth control when you have sex. Wake up and pay attention, if you are having sex you best be mature enough and ready to support and raise a kid, sex is not a game and it can have consequences that will affect the rest of both of your lives.

And of course she might be scared she is pregnant and so manifesting symptoms and of course still actually be pregnant!

Insert evil laugh here

I've been pregnant 6 times, and I can tell you that there is no way in hell that she is having any real pregnancy symptoms after 4 days. Either she got pregnant about 4 weeks ago from another encounter, or her symptoms are all in her head.

And I will reiterate what a previous poster said: there is a high concentration of sperm in pre-cum. Once your dick is hard, don't stick it in her without having it wrapped, unless you want her to get pregnant!

Precum contains sperm (yes, really) so it can cause a pregnancy if you shove a precum covered cock up a vagina without a condom. Some guys produce lots of the stuff while others don't. If you almost ejaculated it's possible you could have deposited extra precum inside her. Outside of that, pregnancy risk is very slim.

I hope getting scared shitless like this isn't wasted however and that you get your girl to her GP for some contraception like the pill or implant. Condoms are also a very good idea, particularly until the first cycle of hormonal contraception has been completed and you're sure it's agreeing with her and that she's properly protected against pregnancy.

Live and learn.

Right that's exactly what I said here:

What's really scary is here's two young teens I am assuming, that are having active ongoing sexual relations with each other and neither one of them even know enough about human reproduction to know she can't possibly be having symptoms of pregnancy (preg or not) 4 days after they had sex. In this day and age it's 2009 ffs! I know for a fact part of my taxes go towards providing information and sexual education, and free birth control for young adults and teenagers. Furthermore, they have a computer why aren't they bright enough to try and educate themselves by doing some simple searching on the net? ALL the info anyone at any age could ever need to know about sex, birth control, pregnancy, male and female reproduction, is right here at their fingertips. THAT is what's scary.

This is interesting... I found the same things in medical journals in online databases...

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_'pre-ejaculate'_fluid_contain_sperm

Also from http://www.healthboards.com/boards/archive/index.php/t-90090.html :
Does precum contain sperm? This subject has been researched in medical journals and the conclusion is very clear.

In the "Journal of Assisted Reproduction Genetics, 2003 Apr;20(4):157-9. Zukerman asked "Does preejaculatory penile secretion originating from Cowper's gland contain sperm?" "Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Rabin Medical Center, Petah Tikva, Israel."

Their conclusion was "Preejaculatory fluid secreted at the tip of the urethra from Cowper's gland during sexual stimulation did not contain sperm and therefore cannot be responsible for pregnancies during coitus interruptus." You can't be more definitive than that.

Precum does not contain sperm UNLESS there was a previous ejaculation, then the sperm comes from semen still in the urethra.

The main reason for failure of the withdrawl method is the inability of guys to admit they didnt pull out in time.

I've also known a couple of people who knew they were pregnant right away, so I think it really differs from person to person. Technically, a home pregnancy test is most accurate on the day your period was supposed to start, but my best friend's home pregnancy test came up positive five days after she got pregnant (she knew the exact conception date due to travel), so my advice to you two is to take a home pregnancy test when she's supposed to start her period, do some research as to what method of birth control fits best into your lifestyle, and be supportive and kind to her no matter what.

Here's one more... I keep looking for new studies showing that pre-cum has sperm in it, but all I can find are answers that say that the biggest problem with the withdrawal method is that the guy doesn't make it out in time in many cases. This is a GREAT link for the OP, really informative stuff. An excerpt...

By the way, it used to be thought that there was a risk of pregnancy with withdrawal due to sperm in pre-ejaculatory fluids ("pre-cum"), but new research suggests this is not a risk. http://www.collegesextalk.com/questions/brithcontrol.htm

It must have been sheer luck on their part because implantation of a fertilized egg doesn't even occur until 6-12 days after ovulation, so four days after the deed is MUCH too soon to manifest symptoms and are more likely to be psychosomatic.

To the OP: I would recommend you and your girl get a hold of a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health by Toni Weschler. It contains a wealth of information on how the female reproductive system actually works and IMO, should be required reading for every female, even if an alternative form of birth control is chosen. Until I read this book, I had no idea of how freaking ignorant I was about my own body. Once she is finished reading it, you need to read it as well. If the pair of you are old enough to be having sex, then you both need to educate yourselves on the realities of sex and how to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

In the future its better to use condoms to protect both of you.:)You should be commended for using LIT to ask for advice and not slammed by those who have more miles under them. There is a lot of info out on the internet, look for multiple sources before you believe what you read. Its also a very good idea to take a home pregnancy test. Read the directions and follow them. These test are reasonably accurate, but if it comes up positive make sure she makes an appointment with her doctor. There are also free public health clinics in most cities. Good luck and don't beat your self up over a mistake that almost all adults have made. In the future have a condom available. Also do not store them in your wallet, they can be damaged by body heat over time. Just read the package also. If you are uncomfortable buying them in a pharmacy a lot of gas stations sell them in the Men's room. They are more expensive buying individually! Good luck and cover up! Most of the men I know say they last longer with condoms. Talk to your partner! I know of no one who hasn't done the same thing! If you slip up enough eventually, you will be more likely to get pregnant!:)

I don't think the op is being (nor should be) slammed. What people are doing is pointing out how irresponsibly they both acted and given the potentially life altering consequences should she turn up pregnant (either an abortion or birthing a child), I don't see where this is out of line. Given my experiences on HT, people are generally very helpful BUT also say tend to say what they really think, not necessarily what the op wants to hear. It's the chance you take when you put something out on the boards.

Okay, but where is the current research showing that pre-cum contains a "high concentration of sperm"? The OP got slammed for not doing research... I just don't agree that it's educational to respond to a question with a bunch of finger-pointing about how irresponsible the OP is. He already agreed with that before posting. What was that shit about glass houses and stones?

The OP is male?

ok so i know what we did was stupid and all. Well my girlfriend got her period last Friday but it lasted less than usual; now we read something that said that when the ovule gets in position she might bleed something pink like. now the second day, after the act she has this pinkish bleed and she thought that it was because she had lost her virginity. could it be possible that she still might be pregnant even thought she had her period?

When a woman is pregnant and has bleeding during the time her period would usually take place, it's called breakthrough bleeding. And, yes, some women have breakthrough bleeding the first month, or even many months, into a pregnancy.

If there's a worry of pregnancy, your gf's best course of action is to head on down to her doctor or local Planned Parenthood, get a pregnancy test and talk about her birth control and emergency contraceptive options. In fact, you'd be very wise to go with her to get educated on birth control, safer sex and pregnancy yourself.

Getting it checked out will put your minds at ease (well, if she's not preggers; if she is, finding out asap will maximize your options), help you both learn some vital information and hopefully put you on a more responsible path.

Oh, and I totally agree with Bailadora that reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great idea for both you and your gf. It's not very expensive and it's a wonderful book to have on hand for decades, but you may even be able to check it out at the library or download it from your library's ebook database if money is really tight. Reading this book and taking preventative measures is a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than having a kid!

My one and only time that I've been pregnant, I had symptoms with in a week. I didn't do a pregnancy test for a couple for weeks because I thought it was my imagination playing tricks on me.

However this question and answer http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_early_can_pregnancy_symptoms_start shows that I'm not a complete nutter.

wow is all i can say at kids these days.

How old are you 2 if you dont mind me asking?
And if you dont know anything about sex / pregnancy / pregnancy prevention why on earth are you having sex? if you are this uneducated in sex, how are you educated enough to raise a child? i know i may sound harsh, but i had my kid when i was 19 and pretty well educated in sex. i knew what i was doing and thought i could handle it. i now have a 5 year old child and am fighting to survive. Living pay check to pay check because i thought i could do something. If you know you cant handle something, why not do everything you can to prevent it?

get her to the local Planned Parenthood or see her OB. and for fuck sake- ask about prevention and go buy some condoms.
