Educator Roll Call

I'm sure many of the educators of Lit are either using Lit as an opportunity for self-care on here through sexual pleasure or rarely make it on here because it is bananas. Hang in there my fellow educators!

Lit as self care shows how crazy the world is for us all.

Three weeks til the end of the semester!

Surreal is a great description. I don't know a single educator having a "great" year. Everyone describes it as "off, chaos, nothing seems right". I am hoping for a great second semester to snap me out of this teaching funk.

Not sure if great would be the best term.

Yet, also doing all possible to make it better for my inner circle of students amid all of the outer influencing factors.

The worst may always make us best.

I suppose that the scene at the end of Dead Poet's Society is never too far away.

Even when the surreal actor is.

I mean that in the best sense of that term.

I have to say, though, that it's better than my all-online last year. One of my classes is...sort of like normal. One is in between. The third is an absolute clusterfuck, and I'm going to fail half the students. Literally. But it's the only online course, and for some reason, that seems to translate to, "I can do no work at all but I still believe I will pass."

Three more weeks.

And counting.

Luckily we’re all in person and I only have one “idgaf” group. For the most part, it’s good until lunch. After that it’s 😢

From my perspective, the classes are all over the place. Some students have adapted really well, others are struggling (which is normal), but the hopeful anticipation of a return to a “normal” that may make the wait for Godot look like a picnic is wearing everyone down. There isn’t a safer option, but it I think that might be what stretches everyone thin so far. Good luck to all and I’m happy to commiserate with anyone in the same boat.

Some boats are no doubt a rather bumpy ride. All over the place sounds just about right. Students are usually this way even outside of all this craziness. No matter the grade level, medium of instruction, or specific subject.

Not sure if this is the optimist in me. But, I guess it kind of maybe is best when we try to use it as a teachable moment. The whole not being able to control always what happens yet still having a choice in how we choose to react.

This is one reason why I love soccer. Sure, goalposts and things like that can enhance it all while making it much easier to play. Yet, you also can enjoy and learn the game just from using a mere ball.

I guess this is how I'm always trying to view my classroom. Give me students, and I can teach.

I am a 5th grade teacher. I absolutely love it. Kids are amazing and the parents where I teach seem to have a handle on the kids. Would love to hear from some of the other teachers out there.

Anybody else sit through a boring PD today on a topic you’ll never find relevant, spending the entire time wondering what the presenter is like in bed?

I had one of those days.

I teach high school and am working on my administrative credential. This year is unlike any other. Only 2 weeks until break. I need the break desperately!

Break is so close!!! I did the teach/get admin credential last year and I can tell you I don’t think I could have mentally done it this year.

That's my go to during boring PD...think about the presenter or others in the room

Am I the only pervert imagining the ladies wearing glasses, a plaid skirt and having a cane?

(I'll sit in the front and be quiet now)

Stretching the definition

OK, it’s lame but I’m technically an educator. I’m a firefighter and that’s what we do, teach the public and newer employees. I actually DO have a BA in education, but it’s music education; go figure. Full of all sorts of erotic surprises…
