Educator Roll Call

We're back the week of August 15th; Learners don't report until the 17th. I have one more trip to take, then I'll start working on stuff.

I've been teaching and or subbing for 8 years ... Mostly in Computer Science, Math and Gym (I'm also a coach) ... Also teach and run the Chess club ...

When does everyone go back?! August 8th here (teachers report). I’ll go back tomorrow to slowly start setting up everything.
I don’t go back until early September - but we also don’t get out until late June. I can’t even imagine going back yet - I’ve been doing summer classes this whole time!!

I noticed were the oddballs getting out early May and going back early august.

I adjunct for community college and high school.

I don't go back until late August ... So I still have 3 weeks off ... And I'm enjoying them in the pool and backyard!

I mean, it potentially makes sense if you work in a state that generally gets incredibly hot during that time - gotta keep the budget down and since we’ve gutted most other parts of the public school system 🙄, I guess we’ve gotta cut the AC bill 😜

How bright am I?

I took a middle school position in SPED and to really kick it off I am a first year teacher! This economy calls for some harsh choices. After completing this first year, I have been BDSM enough to do it again.
I will again be teaching Emotionally Disturbed. The real question is who is more disturbed; the students or the teacher?
More power to you, those Emotionally Disturbed kids are difficult. Plus it takes a disturbed person to teach disturbed kids!

August 8 with classes starting Aug 10. Got my class schedule today. My building was torn down to build an addition so I’m moving into a room that currently is filled with football equipment.

ouch… yeah… good to see that everyone’s in agreement that (some of) the parents are the worst.

“My little Angel got a B+??? But… but… they always get straight A’s?!?!”

“I’m sorry…? Do you want the content to stay at the same level of difficulty or do you want your child to be challenged and grow?”

“But the grade…”

“Doesn’t matter… because it’s middle school…”

Or my favorite…

“I see you have my a child a zero for a hw assignment… why?”

“Because it’s been over a week and they didn’t do it”

“But they said they did it”

“Mhm… and did you ask to see the work?”

“No”

“So how do you know that they did it?”

“Because they said so” 🤦‍♂️

Or alternatively…

“I see you have my a child a zero for a hw assignment… why?”

“Because it’s been over a week and they didn’t do it”

“But they did it!”

“Ok… where and when?”

“In their bedroom”

“Okay… so you saw them working on it?”

“No?”

“Why not?”

“Because the door was closed”

“Does your child have anything that could be entertainment in that room?”

“You mean like their [insert video game console, tv, computer, tablet, phone, etc]”

“So… is it possible that they may have been using any of those items instead of doing their hw?”

“So you’re calling my child a liar?”

“Well otherwise you’re calling ME a liar but I have nothing to gain and everything to lose [but my time and sanity] by lying to you about your child’s work… so…”

Middle School and Elementary School teachers here. Been doing this for over 20 years and each day it's an adventure. It gets harder, more and more is added to our plates and nothing is being taken off. Parents since Covid cannot control their children and are expecting us to, but when we call them it's our fault. Hate to be doom and gloom because it's not all that way.

Totally appreciate the wonderful kids who cannot get enough information that we have to share with them. The looks on their faces when the lightbulbs go on. Hearing former students come back and share something they remember that you taught them or thank you. These are what keeps me going back (obviously the miniscule paycheck helps).

However, the insane part that we have learned in all of our years is how sexually devious teachers are in their personal lives. How willing they are to try new things and experiment with co-workers and colleagues. Knowing that we all talk about what we'd do to those hot parents who come in for conference day and aren't ashamed to flirt with them. Even the most vanilla looking of teachers are freaks!!!
