Editing - Finding Balance

I'm tired of coming to this forum and seeing nothing but writers seeking editors. I come here to seek out an oasis that may include requests but also offers knowledge.

Why is coming here no more fun?

Propose a topic and let's discuss it.

Just speaking for myself, I come here hoping to see people talk about erotic writing. I would love to pick up pointers and can probably pass along a few. I'm a writer and enjoy talking about the craft. There's lots of useful discussion about erotic or sexual topics on the site, but not much discussion about the actual writing of erotic fiction or the fine points of submitting a piece to this site.

I'll have to start asking questions, I guess. :)

Have you looked over in the Story Discussion Circle? Or the Story Feedback Forum? Or the Story Ideas Forum? Have you raided the Library? Read the How To's? And if you really want fast opinions on writing erotica, just post a question in the Author's Hangout. They've talked about it all before, so don't tend to bring the topic up much themselves, but when someone does, they tend to jump on the thread like fleas on a dog's back. ;) Those folks are not just editing pieces for others (though I think almost all the editors here do submit), they write and submit all the time.

But if you keep an eye on this forum, you'll see topics come up and get debated. Usually from an editorial stand-point, but I do find them informative which is why I still snoop around and stick my nose in everyone's business. I like the EF. :)

Look around, you'll find a lot, and don't be afraid to revive an old thread either. People will respond to it (usually!) :rose:

Ninety-nine percent of writers here KNOW IT ALL already and resist/oppose new information and change in any form. This attitude isnt restricted to writers, its everywhere. So few learn anything, and the fewer who have better techniques are ignored. Its howcome real talent is so rare.

Talking about writing is a conversation with yourself. People talk around writing cuz few know how to actually do it.

I'm often ignored, I embrace change, and I'm positive I don't know it all. How's that? ;)

I really don't see how anyone can come up with a percentage like ninety-nine until we actually have a minimum of one hundred regulars here.
