Ebay is hard work

Heh. Such a huge variety of things to choose from. It's daunting.

We're looking at replacing the laptop computer, but I can't seem to make a decision as to which computer to bid on. There are quite a few that look good.

Somebody just shoot me, okay? Or choose for me.

I don't think I've ever seen a Dell commercial.

I'm running into sellers that don't accept my address. This kinda sucks, but at least it gives me a reason to weed them out. *shrug*

They have that tall blond haired boy in them. At the end he says..."Dude, Your getting a DELL".......sound familiar

Nope, haven't seen it. I haven't seen any stateside commercials in almost a year.

only on ebay can you have a product sell for $75 one week, and the next week, get a high bid of $5 for the same type of product.

April, I have only ever owned compaqs, not that they are the best, just some product loyalty, as far as laptops go.

If you can, get a Dell or Toshiba...

The desktop we have now is a Compaq, and has worked wonderfully. Except for its habit of not loading the keyboard at times. LOL

It looks like it will be either a Compaq or HP this time. If I win an auction, that is.

Hubby is kinda indifferent to the whole thing right now. So of course the decision falls to me. As usual.

Only thing I can remember about dells that might be bad is something about how the HD mounts to the computer.

The mounts are either too rigid or not rigid enough and if the laptop is bounced around a lot or dropped while running it can scratch the HD badly.

They might have fixed that problem I don't know for sure though. Some of the fleet vehicles that came into my shop had Dell laptops mounted in the cab and they had a lot of problems with the HD's crashing. I don't know if it had more to do with their driving style or the HD design though.

One company I worked for bought several Dell laptops that were refurbished. Had mine three years with no prolems. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I needed it. Dell has the same warranty as new ones at killer prices.

I used to be very addicted to eBAY - spent a lot of time looking for stuff even when I wasn't in the market for anything! *lol*

I've also bought stuff there at excellent prices. And I've done well selling quite a few things.

BTW - if you want a quality Laptop and don't mind spending a bit more - go with the IBM Thinkpad.

e-bay is hard work

Last year I was a power seller doing over $10, 000.00 a month. Finally decided to say fuck it after e-bay got to greedy, sold my stock and am kicking back for now. Don't miss the head aches!

I'm deeply infuriated. Some fuckwad moron whom I hope develops a severe case of boils on his balls outbid me with 17 fucking seconds to go in an auction. I didn't stand a chance. I hope for pustules on his penis.

I even fretted through a power outage over that auction. Watched it off and on all day. And this little putrid piece of humanity comes barging in at 17 seconds left. I hope his bowels decay inside his body.

Oh April, you got sniped. Now I feel terrible for every time I've done that to win an auction. Can I send you my laptop to make up for it? Oh wait...I don't have a laptop. Well how about my lap?

Sniped, eh? Well, it's happened before, and I imagine it'll happen again. Simply being outbid is one thing, but what happened feels so sneaky. Oh well.

Your lap? I can think of a couple things to do with it. ;)

Were you watching the end of the auction yourself? Why didn't you bid at the very last second, too?

The best snipe I ever did was winning a very hard to find reference book for over $200 by one cent in a last second bid. I eventually met the person I outbid as we both belonged to a group for collectors of a certain item. He remembered me winning that auction, too. :)

It's all part of the game, April.

There are a few programs out there that will do the sniping for you. I used to have the url for one...

There I found it, knew it was in my bookmarks some place.

Auction Tamer

Take a peek, it might be what you seek.

I am a confirmed eBay addict. Paperback books. I have enough to read now for a year or more, yet I continue to buy! When the mailperson fails to bring me a package I go though withdrawl. :(

Yes, I was watching the auction. I was eating my dinner while waiting for it to end. I had outbid everyone else by a couple hundred dollars. Thought I was in the clear. Then got blindsided. It still rankles. Fucker outbid me by $10.

I hope he has sinus infections for the rest of his life. :D

remind me to never, ever bid against you on any item. in fact i'll just start sucking up now so i can make sure i never piss you off at all. (i hope his bowells decay inside his body) scary shit there lady.:D :D

I'd guess he only beat you by $10 because that was the increment set for the auction. He may have actually bid quite a bit more than you.

Especially if you were watching, you should have put a bid in at the last second. If it is something I really want, I will do that even if I'm the current high bidder. It won't change your high bid at all if no one bids against you at the end, so what's to lose?

Gonna give it another shot. I hope to win, but don't expect to. And I will be at work when the auction ends.

*crossing fingers*

OMG I actually won the auction! I'm stunned. Think I'll go pass out now.

By one cent!
