The Earth Day Contest 2005 is nearly here.

Those daring souls willing to risk trolls, anonymous comments, ribald laughter and derision are encouraged to enter this themed contest.

The rewards are more exposure of your work to a wider audience, more attention to the entry than to a normally submitted story, and the chance to win the coveted last place contest - and displace me.

The downside is in statement two above.

Get writing!

Og

I was just sitting here wondering when you would make this thread. For once it looks like I might actually finish my story before the contest starts. Look out Og, I think I might be competing for last this year with you. ;)

Hello Ogg it's me again :)

I'll be in (as always) and I have an idea brewing...no where near written yet though, my entry will probably come towards the end (ooo errr) this time and I doubt I'll get more than one done this time :)

Count me in... Time to get my feet wet.... Got one finished..... sigh... what does the last place prize pay btw...lol or does it just let Ogg off the hook....

Last place pays in the heigh respect of your fellow authors (and their jealousy) you have to be a brave soul to try for the last place in these contests :)

Welcome in TxRad! the water is lovely and warm :)

Oh Thank Og you started this thread!

I started writing my first piece yesterday and really needed a support thread so bad. I only got 400 words down and just couldn't go on! Now that you're all here again I'll be better. I hope!

Good luck everyone!!! :rose:

The same thing sort of happened to me. I'm wrote about 2,500 words in one day and had to stop. When I get back to it, I only have to write the sex scene, since it's a random enncounter sort of thing. Now, if I can only get back into the groove of it, I'll be in business. :)

Thanks for the heads up Og. I have my idea, now to get it written down!

welcome aboard R Richard, Logo and Scarlett :)

I am determined to get the one I'm writing now done before I start my Earth day story..

That's exactly why my Earth Day story isn't done. Since I have no hopes of getting the other one I'm writing done in the next week, it looks like I'll just have to take a little break from it to finish the Earth Day one.

Scarlett..I fear if I do that I'll never finish this one. It's a bit of a slog at the moment but I sense it will flowout soon just as soon as I work out where the hell I'm going with it!*LOL*

I can't wait to see it, seems like you're totally on a roll these days. :)

Why thank you :) I've been doing ALOT of writing of late and I've got loads of ideas to follow up on too L*

First draft started. All I need now are plots for the other entries.

I think Earth Day is the most difficult of the themed contests. It isn't easy to include the Earth Day ideas into an erotic story. Does anyone else have this problem?

Og

Hi, it's me again.

I have the first draft of my story almost done. It's looking like this time I'll win the contest for the lowest score.

I think I'm going to resurrect my Valentine's characters, Mrs. Thomas and Raquel. I don't want to write it as chapters though... Has anyone done this? Does it work?

I think I'm going to need all the support I can get to write this thing. Glad to see this thread started.

I have a question. I know the story has to be Earth Day related but does it have to take place on Earth Day? In my story, the main characters are visiting a cabin by the lake in the country. They discuss things like the development of the wilderness property around the cabin and the mercury level in the fish they are fishing for. Do you think that will be enough earth day relatedness or do you think the readers would give it a low score?

I have a great idea, I just need to write it, how many words does it need to be?

The bar door slams open, then swings right back into the face of the disgusting life form standing in the doorway. He (for surely no female member of the specie could look so disreputable or smell so odiferous) grunts, curses, then staggers in and looks around the suddenly silent room.

His head keeps bouncing up and down, not unlike the basketballs he's spent the entire weekend watching as teams compete for the American college championship. A sound similar to that made by a malfunctioning garbage disposal indicates he's clearing his throat. "Who's the fucking fuck-wad in charge of this fucked-up fuck-hole?"

It's now apparent the profane old fart is just another grizzled vet of many past Lit writing contests who has come in from the cold or, to be more accurate, away from the TV, long enough to enter. The crowd yawns and returns to their trivial prusuits.

RF: Not only yes, but hell, yes.

RF: Past tense, probably. Present/future tense, absolutely.

I've concocted a cautionary chronicle about the dangers of outdoor sex. It has a similar, P.G. Wodehouse, tone to, Willie and the Brain, my entry in the Valentines Day contest. However, unlike that chaste clunker, there will be sex, if only to demonstrate the potential downside of screwing around Mother Nature.

The two characters from that earlier epic, Willie and Etta, will not go unmentioned, but new characters have to tote most of what passes for the story. Like that previous post, this one is also fated to languish in the Humor category. But this one will have sex--did I mention that already?

Being garrulous by nature, the old Lit vet might emit even more sage wisdom, counsel and advice, not to mention gas, but the sports highlight shows have come on. With a nod at some of the other battle-tested veterans of past contests, he heads for the TV room.

Wellllllll what can I say.. I'll be in og.. fighting for last like always...

I didn't expect this thread to start till next week.. Og.. ya impress me.. as always.

Get writing! Now!

I think the title of this post is really a reminder to me.

It also serves as a bump to this thread for those of you who haven't got far with your Earth Story plots. Plot? What plot?

I want to see a high level of participation by members of the AH. I hope we can rise to the quality of entries for the Valentine's Day contest (or sink in my case).

Get those stories ready.

DON'T SUBMIT TILL THE CONTEST OPENS.

Og

I'm not writing one this year. There's no way I could top last year's performance.

Good luck everyone! :rose:
