Mrcowboytoney@hotmail.com attempted to sell 5 seats to folks that wanted to witness his execution by lethal injection, in Texas. Ebay refused to allow him to list the item for sale. The funds were to be used to help support his 2 children.

The doomed man saw his market as either compassionate folks, ie. willing to help his children, or as sadists, ie. wanting to watch him die. Assuming you had the cash, would you have bid on a seat, how much would you have paid and what would your reasons be for attending??

I don't know if the man is dead or alive. I found the article in the 9/01 issue of Harpers magazine, on page 24.

I wouldn't buy tickets and depending on how the money is managed, might have sent a contribution to the children.

Of course, in the days of the guillotine, seats were free and executions were often conductied before a "full house."

I'm glad ebay didn't list his auction.

I wonder if this would be illegal in NY, based on our "Son of Sam" law...and not that I don't have sympathy for the guys kids, who will be left fatherless, but any money raised should go to the families of his victims...

No, I wouldn't have bid on one. While I am "for" capital punishment, I don't believe that I need to be there to see it. If there were a reason that I "needed" to be there, though, it wouldn't bother me. But for simply curiousity.....No.

Good Point!

I guess I wasn't thinking.

No thanks.

I've witnessed executions.

Didn't like it then, wouldn't like it now,but then I had no choice.

Not me. I've seen more than enough people die to last a lifetime.

I would bid

I think it would be very interesting to see someone executed.

I would go as high as 500$ perhaps
or if I was a rich bastard, whatever it took.
It could be a big party eh?
I'd get stoned off my ass waiting for this motherfucker to snuff it.

That's kind of a hard question to answer. I feel bad for his kids, and for the victims families.

But he was just selling them for money for his family, and the victims families weren't taken into consideration by him.

If I saw that on E-bay, and I was sure that the money would go to the family, I would.

It's seems like he was trying one last thing to show his family love.

I don't know what the crime was though, or all the pieces of his story. So, I'm just judging on the information presented here.

I wouldn't go to see his execution though. Who wants to see something like that? I might give them to his family or the victims family, if they found any comfort in it.

Not only would I not pay, I wouldn't do it if they paid ME to come watch.

No, thank you.

A "capital punishment" idea

I think everyone should be allowed to die with dignity, no matter what they've done.

This idea sounds crass, sort of like buying tickets to a "Grateful Dead" concert.

damn

This is where I really struggle.
I am not a big fan of capital punishment but if someone were to kill or rape one of my girls then I would want to kill them myself.
It is hard to keep your beliefs when you are faced with that.
I know there are people that could do that, however I am not one of them. I would want to strike back.
So I guess I would say No on the ticket issue.
