A friend of mine on the West Coast is in the process of buying a house. Her and her Husband/Master found one that has the perfect room for a basement dungeon.

She has been instructed to find ideas to furnish it. They have been saving up cash for several years now for a down-payment on a home and they specifically made sure to keep $5K aside for building up their brand new dungeon now that they can finally have one. Up until now they have spent their married life living in an Apartment so finally having dungeon space is a treat.

So like a good friend I'm helping her out. She's been Googling online and finding a bunch of things and also trying to shop locally in her area. I figured the best place to get ideas as to what to stock a dungeon with would be here.

The room in question is part of a fully finished off basement. It's about 20x20.

So far she has a list of must-haves..
1) first aid kit
2) Safety scissors
3) Good polypropylene/nylon rope (The soft kind)
4) A frame for suspension
5) Suspension cuffs
6) Some kind of rack
7) Bondage horse/Spanking horse
8) Double bed
9) Curtains to cover the two windows
10) rubber sheets for the bed
11) Melting pot or hot plate for melting wax for wax play.
12) Fucking machine (One of the cheaper models)

I personally feel with that list her room is pretty darn well stocked, but she wants to have enough ideas for her Master to chose from.

Any suggestions?

What worked for you and what hasn't worked for you?

Any manufacturers that are good quality or ones she should avoid?

Thanks! :D

GrimsPet you might get a better response to this in the BDSM forum. I know you post there.

I think it depends what they're into. The one thing I see missing is a St. Andrews cross.

Awesome site.

Bondage beds are awesome, and something a handy person could build themselves relatively easily. The type I'm thinking of is like a four-poster bed with a frame on top connecting the posters for sturdiness, and eye-bolts all over the place for lots of attachment configurations.

The 2-3 things we really use at our local playspace are:
- A really good sex swing. The one they have is leather, super adjustable and comfy. An adjustable stool (like the ones doctors have) is a handy accessory for the swing, and other activities.

- A sturdy padded table, like a massage table, or even just more of a long, padded bench that's covered w/ heavy vinyl and can hold the weight of 2 bodies (that could be another DIY project). This can be used for massage, sensation, wax, fire, needle play, sex, etc.

Your friend should definitely tap into her local kink-friendly community. She may very well find people who really enjoy building quality equipment, maybe even for just a little more than the cost of materials.

As for the wax melting stuff, she can probably pick up a really cheap crockpot for like $5 at her local megamart and use that (w/ water) to melt whole religious candles or whatever. I've done it that way, just burned said candles, and various types of other candles (yes, I'm careful about what's in the candles and always test them first).

Cheap plastic dropcloths/sheeting and even garbage bags are less expensive and easier than rubber sheets for really messy play like wax. Personally, I'd just get a good waterproof mattress cover for the bed, then use disposable stuff and cheap sheets for messy play. Rubber sheets sound expensive, hot and sticky to me. She can probably find a wealth of sheets that can be ruined on Freecycle and at thrift stores.

She should add plastic or furniture wrap to the list if they're into that kind of play, bondage or mummification.

It is an awesome website and also one I've had bookmarked for years. I shared it with my friend ages ago when she wanted to make something. I like the store that Sartan has too - I bought some hardware on there that I couldn't find locally when I made some collars a couple years back.

Thanks for the pointers on the sex swing. I don't think she even thought of that one.

As for the sheets I told her what you had posted about the rubber sheets and she clarified for me that it is a plastic rubberized bed cover that you would put on children's beds. She apparently already bought it. I told her what you said about looking for sheets through freecycle and she said "cool!"

Thanks for your help everyone!:D
