Dum Transisset Sabbatum

I like the video. But it brings to mind a line from Battlestar Galactica: "Humanity never asked itself why it deserved to survive — maybe you don't."

And the Hollies!

I don't have occasion to drive too often in the city, so when I spent a little time in suburbia the other week, I was excited to get behind the wheel and pump some jaaaaams. To drive and listen to music, it is such a pleasure. I would make excuses for road trips, just for that part of it.

Naturally, I decided to listen to Australian gospel-folk-pop from the 60s.

ah yes, i know bocelli - listened to him a fair bit, as he's made a lot of tv appearances over here. the tone of his voice fascinates me. brightman not so much. :)

Funny, I was just saying the same thing...

Carlo Gesualdo happened upon his wife and her lover in bed together, brutally murdered them both, and hung their corpses hung in a macabre display outside his castle. This was not against the law - as a husband and a nobleman, he had a legal right to vengeance against his wife. It appears, though, that he was driven mad by guilt for the rest of his life, ordering his servants to flagellate him continually.

Beauty from a tortured soul.
