feels like my ribs have become the arcing structure of a cathedral's vaulted nave and my heart's floating up there, carried on currents of ...
*wipes tear*

Ok. We get it already. You're stalking Byron.
you think? you'd be wrong, but then maybe you don't get friendship and a sharing of aesthetics. still, i wish you a merry christmas.
Tristis Est Anima Meano. the time's not right, the mood's not right right now for this. it needs a quieter, less bright time.
it . . . tethers me, where i would be floating. i want floating today. my ribs will keep my heart inside, my skull my brain - but my mind? it's aloft and not planning on coming down too soon![]()
We're both stalking Neci.Ok. We get it already. You're stalking Byron.
You looked up the text, didn't you?*tears*
You looked up the text, didn't you?
That's alright, I did that before I heard it for the first time.
But then, hearing this setting, I wept. And maybe that's not a very manly thing to say. Is it inappropriate for a man to cry listening to music? So many motets, and then, suddenly, you come across one that totally decks you.
I'm just listening to it again.
Tristis est anima mea usque ad mortem:no, just those opening notes - so . . . pure
playing it now and it has exactly the same instant effect on my eyes. why does it do that? what part of a person's trilogy responds to these triggers?
*sniffs*
and no, it would be inhuman not to be moved!
Tristis est anima mea usque ad mortem:
sustinate hic, et vigilate mecum:
nunc videbitis turbam, quæ circumdabit me:
Vos fugam capietis, et ego vadam immolari pro vobis.
Ecce appropinquat hora, et filius hominis
tradetur in manus peccatorum.
English:
Sad is my soul unto death:
stay here, and keep watch with me:
soon you will see a crowd of men surround me.
You shall flee, and I will go to be sacrificed for you.
Here is the approaching hour when the son of man
will be delivered into the hands of sinful men.
The music came from the text.hmmn, if anything, the words detract from what i experienced![]()
Oh!hmmn, if anything, the words detract from what i experienced![]()
The music came from the text.
If it helps at all, "immolari" means to burn a victim as a sacrifice. It really doesn't translate to English. There's a lot of Latin that doesn't translate well. English uses too many words.
However, the music speaks, and that's what's most important.
And there it is.Oh!
Here's a wonderful thing:

Let's just do it. I'm starting it now.
Well, Latin is the only language that God understands.immolari - immolation, i know that. the music, the words sans meanings - just the sounds... instantly, just instantly draw the emotion fro me.
kind of similar with opera, though there's a lot i don't enjoy: i can let the sounds wash over me and resonate to them, but when i read the english words they're so dull. i prefer not to know them! and i love the english language. it has intricacies and nuances that skill can bring out.
And there it is.
Shall we dance?kind of similar with opera, though there's a lot i don't enjoy
