yet when someone goes nuts and starts off on a shooting rampage - you liberals/socialist nut jobs blame the gun

WTF

We also licence them, track them, require training to use them and take them away if you are found to not be able to handle them.

I agree with you on treating cars and guns similarly.

Personally, I think the whole DUI punishment thing has evolved into a legalized money making scam. Federal, state, and local governments should be held accountable as to how much money is derived from DUIs and other car related crimes and exactly what that money is being used for.

on the licensing issue, I really wished we would require boaters to take classes (Ironic that I'm saying that, but its a necessary evil as down here we have too many weekend warriors on the water fishing and drinking. then we also have jack ass crabbers putting crab traps in marked waterways).

I see your point about tracking guns. If people didn't fear the government ... also there is a lack of trust with our current government that I think started with Bush and his expansion of spying programs.

Boaters are required to take an exam in TN via the Wildlife Agency. It's similar to their DL law. I still have my old one.

Cars are a necessary evil, guns really aren't. Besides nobody doesn't blame the person in either case.

Right. People started fearing the government under Bush. You've been terrified your entire life.

If you mean people don't blame the person(s), I strongly disagree w/you there.

That's not actually a double negative. People do blame the people who cause accidents.

But you know what I'm saying, right? Someone does something stupid w/a gun, and there's a massive, over-dramatized witch hunt for the vast majority of those sensible ones that do legally own guns. Like,"OMG! So and so has a gun in their house! They're gonna kill us all!" And those people didn't have a fucking thing to do with it. But let the libs try taking away the guns of people who obey the law, and there's going to be another revolutionary war in this country. The Libs will be responsible for that war.

I know exactly what you're saying, and it's bog-head stupid.

No. There's never been a witch hunt for responsible gun owners. When you take a look, it's the people who make their living by saying there is a witch hunt for legal gun owners who actually say there is a witch hunt for gun owners.

They take no ones car away. ;)

Where do you live that they don't take people's car away?

No there isn't. There are 30,000 gun deaths in the US every year. Do we hear about even a hundreth of them? NO.

If there is a civil/revolutionary war bring it. You'll lose, and lose hard. Just like you did last time and for the same reasons. The majority of people disagree with you, the majority of people with money disagree with you, the people who own the factories needed to make the things you need to fight the war, disagree with you. And it starts with the fact that nobody is talking about taking your guns, they are talking about making it slightly harder to get guns. Even if you count Fienstien they were talking about outlawing guns that not a lot of people have and that most people are at least hesitant to think need to be wandering around in the streets. But that got shot down.

Only for poaching, dealing drugs here. Not for bad driving. ;)

You must live someplace more liberal than Southern California. Here if your car isn't registered to you the cops can take it at any time and if you don't have an active driver's license you can't register to your car. So something as simple as having the wrong sticker on your car can get it confiscated here. They can suspend your license for something as trivial as not paying your tickets in a timely fashion.

The focus should be on illegal guns on the black market. And the criminals that get them illegally for unlawful purposes. But that focus is conveniently ignored on a large scale, isn't it?

Focusing on the black market is difficult. Dry up the white market and the black market will go with it. They have to start at square one, eliminate square one. Changing the culture would help as well.

No. It isn't. Again, the people who make their living feeding you this stuff are against background checks.

Then they are taking the person's car, they are taking someone else's. ;) Suspending a license is not taking the car. That's why repeat offenders get the driving without a license ticket. :)

That's not true, if you don't have a valid driver's license you can't register the car. You still own it (as in you're name is on the pink slip) but you can't operate it or leave it in a public place like a parking place. You're simply mistaken about the repeat offenders ticket and not getting the car taken.

So they drive with an expired plate, they may actually get caught.
