Drum solo

Lionel Hampton one of the great ones. I grew up with Buddy rich being a favorite of mine...Lionel is just as good too.:D

I found this CD....pretty obscure. "Les tricheurs".
I think it's soundtrack or something.

I picked it up earlier in a 2nd hand CD place and just played it.

At the end the is a 3 minute long - fantasic - drum solo.

Phew!

Lionel Hampton played vibraphone, not drums. Buddy Rich and he were in Benny Goodman's many bands and combos, one of the first, btw, to be racially integrated.

Now I will have to locat this and listen to it. I have a love of good drum solos and a drummer with the talent to make me want to dance, air drum, and just in general enjoy the music.

You're wrong. He played drums with Milton Mezzrow (clarinet), Andre Persiany (piano) amd Buddy Banks (bass).

The CD is French, It was a surprise to me how he rocks on drums.

Mea culpa. I never knew that. Learn something new every day.

Yeah, Niel is probably my fave...I learned to play drums playing 2112 over, and over, and over.

But I like Steve Smith too, he is basically a studio drummer now but you might remember him from playing with Journey.

Carl Palmer (E.L.P.), and Phil Collins are fave's too, and so is Vinnie Paul of Pantera.

Terry Bozio of the old band Missing Persons was cool, and we cant forget Alex Van Halen.

I could mention a bunch of good drummers no ones ever heard of but whats the point.

Rock on.

John Bonham, Bill Bruford, Alan White, Ginger Baker, Ringo... drummers never get enough press. They're the heart of the hole thing. Make it stomp, make it swing..........

Lionel was more know for the Vibes. I'm a Ginger Baker fan

He was a drummer first. I wish you could hear this.

I agree Ginger Baker was great - but boy! this solo is WILD!

Buddy Rich.

Just Buddy Rich. No one else even comes close to the skill and flair that man possessed. He was purest genius and had the rhythm sense of a metronome.
