Drinking and hangovers.

B-Vitamins

A little off topic, but one the best cures for a hangover is the take a B-complex vitamin before going out. Your body is depleated of B-vitamins when drinking.

The entire population of Europe would be wasting thier lives if going out and drinking were a problem. The American Health Nazis are going overboard not only with drinking, but also smoking.

The same could be said of people who smoke in private, or who never exercise. I consider all of those to be in poor judgment and have no problem saying so. If it's your body I agree that no one has a right to stop you but that doesn't mean they can't judge you (almost impossible) or criticize you.

"Basically I was more thrown by the hostility of it, than the words themselves. It's the day after New Years, you almost have to expect to hear about some hangovers today - even from usually rational people."
The hostility was uncalled for, New Years Day or at any other time.
Perhaps the person is an ex-Alcoholic or someone who watched as a friend or family member was hurt because of alcohol. Or maybe they're just bad at expressing themselves.

I'm quite fond of drinking myself but I can see how people can become frustrated by its abuse. The problem with a society that treats citizens like responsible adults is that there are always those who aren't.

As usual, you make good points Never. It is poor judgement to drink to excess on a regular basis. However, having a few, even on a semi regular basis, is a fairly harmless bit of fun, as long as you can keep it in moderation.

I wondered about the history behind the hostility too. It seemed unwarranted, but people who have had bad experiences with things like this sometimes tend to go off the deep end a bit, even at those who aren't causing anyone any trouble. But after reading a bit more from that poster, I think there's just general anger problems there.

People caught drunk/stoned/on cellphone while driving should be dragged out into the street and shot dead immediatelly. That way there are no victims.

Having said that, I drink ocassionally. Usually stuff like kahlua/tia maria/baileys and milk. In general I break in with coke or something to spread it out and not get drunk, but sometimes I feel like getting buzzed so I do. I have never gone overboard and done anything stupid nor tried to meet new people or have a conversation after my 5th drink or so, nor have I done anything more stupid drunk then sober.

Its peoples personal choice to waste or not waste their lives. As is suicide, abortion and a ton of other things. However we have so many bloody laws and people that think they know best that it all becomes a circus and what anybody else thinks is a huge joke to me as I really dont care.

Dont forget that if you do anything in excess you are screwing youself in the end. Only way it would affect me is if a drunk bothered trying to interfere with whatever I'm doing, including trying to run me over, other than that I could care less, go knock yourself out drinking, its nobodys business.

And Happy New Year since I'm already here.

p.s. Somebody said something about American Health Nazis and smoking. I quit 2 years ago. I still dont know why I quit, I just did, after a decade of smoking. I think its those ugly pics on our (Canadian) cigarette packs. Believe me, as a non-smoker now, cigarette smoke makes me wanna puke. I'm not even bothering to be concerned for health or anything, I'm saying about my immediate issue with somebody smoking beside me. Never noticed it while a smoker, and I could care less about people smoking, but I think that separating smoker and non-smoker sections and restricting smoking in public places was rather justified. Fuck I never thought I'd be a non smoker. It sucks.
