Do you think they hold meaning?

I've been having bad dreams for several nights now and I'm beginning to think that they all tie together in some way. Not that what happens in them is real but the feelings that they provoke.

Last nights dream...

I was working in a building when I found out an earthquake was coming. We all started running up the hill because if we stayed in our building we would fall off into the ocean and drown. I ended up in another building farther up the hill. I remember being with a co-worker out in the stairwell. The stairwell was glass, so you could see out. We felt the first rumble and sat down on the step. We held hands as we watched the wave of the earthquake start from the left and slowly make its way toward the right. Buildings were toppling. Suddenly our building started to slide down the hill. I don't remember anything after that.

Night before...

Fighting for my life. I saw several people die in my dream.

Night before that...

Holding a snake that wanted to bite me at arms length as long as I could before it finally jumped forward and bite me...poisioning me.

Night before that...

Having a horrible arguement with someone I like. Screaming and yelling about really stupid things. I remember feeling like the situation was out of control and no matter what I said the situation kept changing for the worst.

Any thoughts? I'm going to keep writing these down in this thread...I think there is a pattern and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what it is so that I can stop these. I wake up feeling tired and afraid and that needs to stop.

Well... I think that dreams *can* hold meaning (not all dreams do, in my opinion)... and I think you're off to a good start by keeping a dream journal of sorts (in as much detail as possible), and also in thinking of them more in terms of "what this makes me feel" as opposed to the actual actions in the dreams.

I remember feeling like the situation was out of control and no matter what I said the situation kept changing for the worst.

That's the pattern I noticed right away. Obviously, I don't know the details of the "fighting for life" dream, but regardless, each dream involves some kind of negative circumstance that you don't have total control over.

I'm not any kind of pro at dream analysis by any stretch of the imagination, but the first thing that pops into my head... are there situations in your life that you don't feel like you have control over? Or that you're afraid of losing control over? Even somewhat subconsciously, just a vague nagging doubt? Maybe related to the people you've recognized in the dreams? (And you definitely don't need to answer those, I'm not being nosy... just tossing out ideas to mull over on your own.)

Anyway, just the observations of someone who doesn't know a thing about dream analysis... :p

My first impression as well was that the running theme was "out of control". What's interesting is that I feel like overall things are going pretty ok. Unless you tie it to my other thread about looking for love. hmmmm...that still doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering these dreams are rather violent and someone always seems to die. I remember being so scared last night as the building slid down the hill, feeling horrible for the people in the other buildings...frightened for them. It seemed so real. The colors, the buildings, the hand holding mine, the feeling of the stair underneath me where I sat watching in horror. The roll of the earthquake from the left to the right.

Yes ...

I do think dreams hold meaning.
I think dreams at times give you a glimpse @ certain things that will be happening in your life.
My dreams @ time are a foreshadowing as to what is going to happen in my life.

I think dream almost always hold some meaning. I've had dreams like yours right around the time everyone was wondering about the Y2K bugs.

Mine were a manifestation of the fear of the future. I have no idea what yours may mean.

You might want to look into buying a book on dream analysis, which may have a dream dictionary too. Usually though, those dream dictionary's don't help me out much. But you could start your own, what you might link together in your dreams.

I'm also very interested in controlling dreams, this would be so interesting to do.

Dream journals are also very helpful. Just be sure to have it by your bed, and write down all the details as soon as you wake up. Things from the dream become distorted after you think on them a bit.
