After Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, it began importing Iranian Shahed drones. By early 2023, Moscow and Tehran had inked a $1.75 billion deal for Russia to make the drones domestically.Aug 8, 2025



And Russia has actually made upgrades for the Shahed drone.



I would also point out that Russia has likely contributed some support to Iran’s nuclear program in the past, and they are openly threatening to provide Iran with nuclear warheads.



It’s an unnatural / unholy alliance, to be sure, with the true power balance somewhat undefined (though I would hazard a guess that Russia is the one calling the shots in most cases). I do NOT see Russia being subordinate to Iran. Hell, DonOld & the MAGAt republicans are making the United States subordinate to Russia…

Perhaps. My post was mostly having a joke at Vladimir Putin's expense.

On the other hand, since Russia seems dependent on North Korea for soldiers, Iran for weapons, China for dual-use technology and African labourers working in their drone factories, Russia may soon be seen as just a bunch of tails being wagged by some other dogs.
