In fairness to Dr. Carson he's got some fairly liberal views for a Republican and a lot of his Conservative views are harmless. He can compare gays to pedos all day and all night but that ship has sailed and the worst he can do is slow it down some. He does support a basically AA, he just thinks it should go in order income/opportunity where you are, how crappy your life was (he specifically mentions if your dad's in jail and your mom is an alcoholic and you still have good grades we should absolutely invest) and then finally race as basically a tie breaker. That's gonna kill him.

Other than that we don't really know a lot about many of his beliefs because he's new to the (political) spot light and probably doesn't even have any really firm understandings of things outside the country. Why would he, other than ISIS bad how many Americans at any level of education could even identify all the countries in the Middle East on a map, much less articulate anything that resembles and understanding of the culture. and that goes for most of the world, I'm sure if you gave most adults a map of South America they'd get Chile and Brazil right, guess a few more correctly and then through up their hands and admit they don't even know the names of the rest.

Being a renown neurosurgeon does not magically grant one the skill set needed to be an effective president, just like being a first term junior senator didn't magically grant Obama the skill set he needed to be an effective president.

And before anyone starts banging the 'but he is an effective president' drum, I remind you that effective presidents don't let the opposite party dictate the agenda or hold the nation's finances hostage. Neither do they become toxic to their own party members during the final off year election of their presidency.

I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. I am not satisfied with his performance. I agree with most of his political stands. I like the guy. I also think he is an incompetent duffus. Obama is a graphic example of why affirmative action is a bad policy. Putting more blacks in responsible positions does not enable them to perform adequately.

After he had been in office for two years Franklin Roosevelt demonstrated that the government could make a positive difference in the lives of ordinary Americans. Barack Obama has not done that in over six years.

He wants a ten percent flat tax on all income. That would reduce tax receipts, cut taxes for the rich, and raise them for the working poor. He wants to cut all government programs, including Social Security and Medicare by ten percent.

His tax policies would immediately reduce take home pay for the working poor. When they were too old to work, their Social Security and Medicare benefits would be reduced also.

If you have a medical emergency, like a heart attack, a stroke, or cancer, and cannot afford treatment, if the government does not pay for treatment, you die.

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Wednesday he would use the U.S. Department of Education to police speech on college campuses.

During an interview, Glenn Beck asked Carson if he would shut down the Education Department as president.

"I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson responded. "It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny federal funding if it exists."

It's interesting to hear Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, suggest the federal government should monitor what sort of political views are shared on campuses, considering how many times he has railed against "political correctness" that censors Americans' viewpoints.

For example, Carson compared the U.S. to Nazi Germany last March, before saying, "I know you're not supposed to say 'Nazi Germany,' but I don't care about political correctness. You know, you had a government using its tools to intimidate the population. We now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe."

But Carson's plan, to deny all federal funding for political bias on campus, would be pretty intimidating. Nearly all colleges and universities rely on federal dollars through student loans and Pell Grants for students to attend their institutions. Many wealthy universities, like Harvard, Yale and Carson's former employer Johns Hopkins, rely heavily on federal research grants.
