The reason I've been disappearing for weeks at a time recently is because my band, PLUTO MONKEY, have been playing gigs to promote our album, 'Little Brenda: Bluegrass Mission', released in the UK on 25th September (Shifty Disco records).

If you're interested, there are three songs available to download free. I must warn you, though, that we're not exactly to everyone's taste - a bit weird really. ("Beck being eaten by The Fall while Portishead beat the shit out of Brian Wilson with the soggy end Captain Beefheart's left leg.") I play the music and eccentric Englishman, Paul Vickers, sings.

Our record label have set up this site for the band:

What to do once you're inside
Next to the Pluto Monkey logo is a strange little alien fellow. Run your cursor over his limbs until you find the 'Discography' section. Two record sleeves appear at the top of the screen. Click on the one that shows a pretty young maiden with flourescent red hair. The album tracklisting comes up and there are three songs that you can download free - just click on "MP3".

The song 'Jet Stream' was our first single.

I'd love to hear what ya think.

Good to hear, Wiz. BTW - I should point out that the Pluto Monkey site looks pretty crappy, really. Nuttin to do with me though.

I am downloading as well Roger. :)
I have quite an eclectic taste so I am sure I will like it!

Well Roger, I like it but I think you guys have and Ozzy...Pink Floyde sound to it.......

wooooooooow Rog .. that was complicated ... so difficult for us blondes ... but i finally got there .. am downloading jetstream as i type :)

Yep listened a few times and like it but do think it has a touch of the Ozz man in it.....A retro 2000 punk kinda sound............

Listened with wizard, sounds pretty cool not a bad sound dude. I like the sound not bad at all....... Keep em' rockin'

Pluto Monkey Don't Monkey Around!

k well it wasn't really that difficult to find to download .. i downloaded all three tracks quite easily.

thank you Rog for giving us a sneak preview .. and btw the "liner notes" on your site are wonderful ... lol ..

it's too bad i didn't have the tracks to listen to on the weekend though while i was shrooming ... ummmmm ... cause ..

wowwwwwwwww ....very psychedlic .. warped psychedlic blues ... slightly reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age .. almost Beatle-esque vocals (especially on jetstream) ..

spacey, dreamy instrumentals suddenly colliding with crashing bumps, bangs, and roller coaster slides ... Frank Zappa couldn't have done it better. :)

certainly not mainstream radio pop drivel ... lol ...

btw .. the "Little Brenda" in the title reminds me of Brenda Lee ..

All three tracks are wonderful Rog ... Congratulations to both you and Paul! :)

listening to the sounds even as I type this

Roger,I am speechless-wow...we are loving this-although the typewriter sound is screwing up my own typing-lol

Monkey Bizzness...

I've been trying to respond to you good people all day but my daft old 18th century AppleMacIntosh wouldn't allow me to enter Literotica (Penetration Denied!)

Myself and Pluto Monkey hyper-crooner, Paul Vickers, did a 'phone interview with British music paper, Melody Maker, today. It's now 4.10am. The poor fellow is now crashed out on my couch - two bottles of Lambrusco worse for the ware.

Hola, Dreamer. Hope your eclectic tastes stretch into the realms of musical absurdity where we tend to lurk. Let me know what you think, my good man.

Wizard. Glad you like our thang. "A retro punk 2000 kinda sound" - I like that. I can hear the Pink Floyd influences - I always thought 'Thirsty Dragons' was a bit like a tune from 'Animals'. Never noticed the Ozzy connection before but I'm not complaining about the comparison. Who knows what influences are liable to seep out of your subconscious when you're not paying attention? BTW - don't you think Mr Osborne looks a bit like Bram Stoker's Dracula (played by Gary Oldham) these days?

Skitten - thankyou, my dear. Which song works best for you?

Hey, Bella, you naughty consciousness-expanding Canadian - stay away from those hallucinogenics! Oh, go on, then - just this once. "Spacey, dreamy instrumentals suddenly colliding with crashing bumps, bangs and roller coaster slides". Wow! Thanks for that. Best review da Monkey have had yet. (It's the only review but that's beside the point.) Like your new signature, by the way.

EG - thanks for the enthusiastic response, you tatooed vixen you. Good to get the pagan vote of confidence. I'm raising a glass of Mead to yourself and Dionysus as we speak. (Well, Lambrusco actually - but it does the trick too.)

I'll try 'n' get Mr Vickers to say "hello" before he leaves tomorrow. (Hey, Ginjah - Paul's a bit worried about what you have against his "dancing hand".)

Roger, I downloaded them last night, with a listen for each right after downloading. I really don't know what to say. LOL I've never heard anything like them before. Am definitely going to give them a few more listens, though. Once I can find them on the friggin' hard drive! Very intriguing!

(Sorry. Ignore this. I'm trying to set up details for Paul but the system won't seem to let me register a new name from my computer.)

Yea Thanks Roger my cute Hunny Bunny ass got booted while downloading your songs and Mr. Toad was about to tell me how much he loved me and all the dirty things he was gonna do to me!! Its all your fault i say YOU OWE ME!!

Sorry, Naked Hunny. Tell you what - as a peace gesture I'll let you download three Pluto Monkey songs FREE!!!!

April - I can't even get that far. As soon as I click on "register" it tells me I'm already registered as Roger Simian.

Huh. It does that to me, too. Crap.
Scream for Laurel! LOL
Yeah, I know you already asked her.

The interview should probably be in the 20th September or the 27th September issue in the Maker Breaker (new bands) section.

Many Thanks

Hello. The response to the downloading of our pop music seems to have been pretty full on which is always pleasing. I can't relate to it myself. I feel detatched, almost put out by it. But it's always good to feel appreciated. I love the idea of the "sonic rollercoaster". I have an overwhelming urge to loop the loop, scrape the castle and shake the tassles.

Cheeky Monkey

Hello Paul ... pleased to meet you, dear!

mmmmmmm what's that you say about shaking my tassles, darling??!!

Why you cheeky monkey you! lmao ... :)

I flippin take a nap and Mr. VIckers decides to join the living!! UGH!! Roger you still owe me for list nights lil problem of my comp freezing up while downloading your songs i really wanted Mr. Toad to profess his love for me but nooo!!!
