LOL... alright wise ass. I'm downloading all the crap I couldn't before but want a download manager to help out.

Good to see you again Glam. Hows it hanging?

have some fun.

i've had some good recomendations for NetAnts when i was looking for something similar.

odd thing is, once i finally DLed it, i stopped having a need for it. my need to dl stuff just up and dissapeared. anything i DO get is thru KaZaA, now, so i never really tested the thing out.

I had KaZaA on my last puter for a while but had nothing but trouble with it. I was hacked twice and had a plague of viruses... or is that Virii...:D

thanks for the tip but I have gone with Debbiexxxs suggestion and downloaded one already. I could've used a download manager for that exercise too... LOL

i use KaZaALite, actually. the only problem i have with it is being slow (not downloading, the whole program istself). it's kinda wierd.

i can deal with it to be rid of those damn banners with sound that pop up now and then, though! goddamn annoying fuckers!

Grab yourself a Pop up killer off one of the download sites. They are great.

wget

If you're looking for something to download whole websites then try wget - http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/wget.html

It's a bit technical (command line only) but it took me only a few tries to work out the right command to download the whole 300MB or so of http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/ - it downloads multiple files much quicker than web browsers because it reuses the http connection for each successive file.

Added after typing the below (really wish I had looked for this earlier...): There is a graphical user interface, the manual is at http://www.jensroesner.de/wgetgui/manual-wgg.html which links to the main site too.

An example command line (all one line):

wget --no-clobber --waitretry=7 --force-directories --wait=0 --recursive --level=inf --convert-links --page-requisites -D rethink.demon.co.uk,newf.demon.co.uk http://www.rethink.demon.co.uk/

--no-clobber stops it getting the same file multiple times (useful if the site generates pages dynamically)

--waitretry stops it hammering the server repeatedly at very short intervals if there is an error

--force-directories mirrors the directory structure of the website on your computer

--wait=0 makes it get the next file immediately one has finished

--recursive makes it follow links and download them

--level specifies how deep to follow links (inf=infinitely deep - warning use -D)

--convert-links makes the web pages on your computer link to each other rather than the website

--page-requisites adds an extra level for things like images that the deepest pages require

-D limits the download to the domains you specify

then you give the webpage to start from.

It is completely non-interactive, you just type in the command and off it goes while you do something else.

If you put the command in a .bat file where you want to download the website to you can just double click on it to start downloading, and then you only need to copy the file and change a few settings to download different websites.
