If someone starts a thread with an obviously provocative thread title - don't even open it. It will go away if no one posts to it, but it will be even more dissapointing to the sick fuck trolls who are too cowardly to post with their own name.

I wanted to reply so badly, but I came to the same conclusion as you...I let it go.

But, but, I thought sick freaks was for me!

damn, and here I thought I was going to get a little attention *pout*

Damn it, I'm still waiting for that damn Raid Troll Killer that I ordered for the Lit members to use.
That'll take care of those bastardly trolls.

I don't know which post that was - but the definition of a troll is some who posts anonymously (either as unregistered or with a temp name they don't intend to use again), and their posts contains slander, inflammatory remarks and name calling, pretty much with the sole intention to gain attention for themselves, but also sometimes to hurt people's feelings.

Trolls are cowardly creatures; they can't use their own screen name because even though no one can really get to them through the internet ether or even know their real life name, they fear what people will think of them if they show their true selves to the online community.

That in and of itself doesn't make them cowards - but when they vicously attack, slander and name call from behind the shield of anonymity because they are afraid to have people know and remember what they said, and then crawl off to hide under a rock somewhere - that is cowardice.

Worse I imagine are the two faced people who do the above when they have a registered name but won't use it because of cowardice. I don't know who these people are, but apparently some that do insist there are some here.

Personally, the one time I posted unregistered, was an innocent question that I was somewhat embaressed and timid at the time to ask (I think it was something about men shaving IIRC). Now that I know the people here are non-judgemental and open-minded I pretty much let myself hang out.

There are still things I won't say because I think they may hurt someone's feelings or otherwise, and I think that if someone isn't willing to let people know who they are, and aren't willing to stick around and defend themselves, or if they just say something with intentions of hurt or slander - then they should just shut the fuck up and go back to the newsgroups with the rest of the trolls.

But I guess they have such pitiful lives and think so litle of themselves that they can't resist posting the way they do. the best thing is to ignore them, not even open their threads, and put those that have names on your ignore list (yayati, etc.).

They are like cockroaches; if there is no food left out (attention) they will go somewhere else.

Gee, Tabby, now I'm sort of worried. ;) Did I ever tell you I was from Edison? :D

Excellent - and true - analogy.

Confession: I posted anonymously once or twice, but only and always to try to troll Merelan when she was asking someone, anyone, to do so. She didn't think i was a very good troll. :p
