Don’t you just love being on Top?

So I woke up today to HOT AND FUZZY part 7 being the top story (in terms of placement, never votes) on Group.

Now I know it’s probably a luck of the draw situation but let’s face it, when you start the day and see your story at the top of the tree (even if it was for just one day) it’s a nice feeling.

Anyone else have that with their stories?

Yep, I've had it on occasion: top story in the seven day list, thirty day list. It's a buzz. I've also got a story bubbling around in the top forty, all time list, for Fetish. That was completely unexpected.

I can't even crack the SF/F toplists with any of mine. The cutoff point is a 4.88 or something and that's the best I have.

I published my second story for Lit in a short gap between the Summer Lovin' contest and the Halloween contest, and it somehow topped both the I/T hub and the New list.

For a brand new author, the effect was breathtaking. I might never forget rushing about getting ready for work, refreshing the page when I passed the computer, and watching the views go up by thousands every time.

It's still my lowest-rated story, but so what?

Emily, I believe it is an honest question. And I suspect that the thread title might not be clickbait per se, but rather a form of satire. Well, maybe it is clickbait too. In any case, well-played.

I've had it for 3 days with Submissives of Catan - because Humor&Satire doesn't get many stories. It's only been knocked off today.

Though it's a low-traffic area - even being part of Geek Pride, it's only just reached 1000 views. 10 votes and a red H, though, so what more do I need in life? /s

Well it’s not rated (in fact it’s got two 1 votes already and that’s it. Ouch!) but it is top of the list on group. That’s what I meant by being on top.

Oh yeah, the SF toplist is waaaaaay hard to crack. I have to give it a serious try one of these days.

There is a lot of sniping going around at the top of top-lists and for some reason the swipes rarely, if ever erase those 1*. I've been on number 1 spot on all time top list in SF/F for a week or so, far longer between 2nd-5th place, but just one 1* tends to knock you down by a 0.01 or even 0.02 and then you tumble down like 50 places Once again, the top list is certainly no measure of story quality, yet it does bring some nice extra views, but only to the first ten or twenty stories on the list.

I've always figured they should organize the list by length. Longer stories require more work, so they should get top billing...

But that isn't how things are done

Just to let everyone know, i prefer the women on top.

But this thread is about story lists, I would prefer chaptered submissions being folded into one entry and arranged by average scores so more people besides Tefler get a spot in the SF/F Hall of Fame.

Is Tefler still writing his Neverending Self Insert?

Out of my stories, only "Fucky Friday" has been at the top of the list. And it did INDEED get a ton of attention. Although it was also a contest entry, and (by most accounts) quite good
