We'll it's been almost 48 hours since his surgery. The vet told me today he's doing very well. He's already drunk, peed and will be fed something this evening to see how he takes it. Then fed a little more tomorrow for "brunch" and I may get to take him home after work if all goes well.

He has a tube into his stomach but she said she'd rather have him eat the normal way since there isn't really anything preventing him from doing so. She said something about me having to flush his tube so it doesn't seal up. Not sure what that means but they will explain after-care when I pick him up.

I miss my shadow.

Oh that's great news ExL! Hope he's back to his old self soon.

Wishing the dog a speedy recovery

Think it wise to let him get drunk so early in his recuperation?

Hope he fully recovers and soon. I miss my pets when they're not around.

LOL. I don't see why not, I was drunk for most of his surgery!!!

Drinking with the Vet?

No, she told me to go home and rest. Yeah right.

I actually wouldn't mind having a drink with her but she introduced me to her husband Friday night. He was helping her out since she had to respond to our emergency and wouldn't normally be at the clinic at that hour.

He's home! He's laid at my feet as I type this. There's nothing more pathetic than a dog wearing what they call an e-collar, but I like to refer to as a lampshade. If only he knew how goofy he looks. I must remember to take some pictures.

About half his body is shaved and wrapped in an Ace bandage. He's got some surgical tubing sticking out his left side that's there to help adhere his stomach to his chest wall. I have to flush 20 ccs of water down it twice a day so it doesn't close over. In two weeks it should be okay to take it out. He has to go back in a week for a check up.

He's acting like nothing is wrong.
