The consumption of the beer is began because of p_p_man's threads. They're all the same, you know the saying same song, second verse. Well with him, it just keeps going and going..... like the damned beer song.

I agreed with almost everything you said. And yours is the only opinion I'm up to reading tonight. The others would probably make me mad again.

IMHO whether it is Carter, Nixon, Ford, Bush, Reagan, Bush or FDR the President of the United States is the Leader of the Free World. IMHO political affiliation has nothing to do with it.

Well, not that I have any reason to explain, but it was late as fuck and wanted to try and sleep and had no inclination to debate last night.

In a truly free world, there would be no one single leader. And this idea of a free world implies that only the west, or those democratic nations are "free". Does that mean countries that have a monarchy, oligarchy, or tribal structure are not truly free? Free and civilized are for the most part western concepts.

They're only the same because the subject doesn't change his tune. So far, since he's been in office, he hasn't done anything right as far as I'm concerned.

To raising the old story of MDS with the reason that rebel groups are going to rain nuclear missiles onto America. To trying to pull together an alliance to "smoke out" a terrorist "dead or alive" who he says is the instigator of last Tuesday's tragedy, an alliance of countries he apparantly didn't need a few short months ago.

One of the saving graces his administration has got is Colin Powell and Dick Cheney. Ah! that's a point, Bush has done something right...he appointed them.

Actually he didn't appoint Cheyney. He chose him as his running mate.

Just a tad bit of your British arrogance is shining through. What you call amateurism, we here in the US, particularly in small towns call being a common man, approachable, not above your raising. It's one of the things we like about him.

If this was a perfect world, sure your dead on about "In a truly free world, there would be no one single leader" but it isn't a perfect world at all. Now taking reality into account IMHO, since the US President, for quite some time, has been considered the Leader of the Free World by most nations ~ not all I will disagree with you. The US is the BIG BOY of the world that is free, not saying there aren't other nations out there who aren't in fact themselves big, but most people in the world look at the US as a Heavyweight......and we also are a Democracy. Since we are the (sorry to use the expression) "Big Boy on the Block" and also, whether we choose to or not choose to, looked at by the majority of the Free World as the Police of the World therefore by default and also by things not said The President of the US is the Leader of the Free World. Did we choose this position? No. Are we going to run from it? No. Who else would do it? No one has taken the lead or chosen to "step up" and try......it is not a dictatorship nor a monarchy but a Leader of the Free World who consults with many many nations and leaders on Global Issues.

This is part of my logic and some of the ways things are perceived by US Citizens and others throughout the world.

Every nation is free to do what it chooses. But as I stated above whether we like it or not, IMHO The President of the United States is the Leader of the Free World.

Do the Japanese not view themselves as Free and Civilized? How about Aussies? Germans? Norweigans? Finnish people? How so as I don't see how you say that? Free has many different meanings and people have varying degrees of Freedom, i.e. Cubans can defect, they just have to get out of Cuba as do Russians as do Chinese? Freedom is more than a thought or deed it is a mind set in addition.
