Does your job require that you have to work outdoors?

If so, you have my unending respect.

I'm spoiled in my comfy office and I know it. If the temperature in my office heads to 76 instead of the 74 it is supposed to be, I'm not pleased.

I just spent the morning and early afternoon outside in mid to upper 90 degree heat and humidity. (It is State Fair time, and I never miss a year.) I am beat by the heat and about to head off for a nap.

For all of you who have to endure the summer heat or the frigid winter air because your jobs are done outdoors, you really do have my respect. Doesn't matter what your job is. I can' t imagine your working conditions. And I know I wouldn't be able to do your job.

I am the account manager for our security company at 5 different medical office buildings. 90% of my day is outside, with traffic flow, accidents and such. You get acclimated.

My grandad said he saw a beagle chasing a rabbit today and they were both walking. Now that's hot.

Construction

100% outside. Not as bad as it sounds as Ambro said you get accustom to it, the a/c has to wait till you get home.

Yes.
It's kinda mandatory.:)
We have evolved this special way of dealing with temperature changes. We add or remove clothes as neccessary. ;)

My job requires me to be outside in the heat half of the time, you know....mineing trips and such.

Cheyenne, imagine being in the Magreb{Sahara desert} with heat of 100-120 every day.

Compared to that, anything here is minimal.

General Contractor here..........

100% outdoors working................ I'm the guy you call to fix everything on your house from the ground to the roof.

It get's so hot at times, I have salt crystals that have formed from dried sweat all over my face by the end of the day.............. I don't mind the heat though, being originally from Miami.............

But shit!..............Winter time is a real bitch! During the coldest months, I leave the house with up to 5 layers of clothing on, no body fat content to keep my butt warm................ BBBBRRRRRRR!!!

in someways i'd love to work outside ... where i work theres no windows i cant even tell what the weather is like or if its light or dark :(

The only thing that I lfind MANDATORY in a job is working with people. I couldn't care less if it's inside, or not, as long as I have nice people working with me. And it doesn't get TOO FUCKING HOT!!!!!!!

I had to work outside for several jobs, but the worst was the Air Force. I have been outside in 109 degree weather, 50 mph winds, tornados, hail, and my person favorite -60 degrees ambient with a -100 windchill factor.

Ironically, despite serious allergies, all of my favorite jobs were outdoor work.

Just when I go to the bathroom. I live in the South, ya know.

Outhouses and all that.

Yup work outdoors 100% of the time wearing jeans, tshirt, hard hat and those damn heavy steel toe boots. You get use to it! But when I get home, don't try to get me out, I enjoy my a/c!

Acclimation or not, I'm still impressed that people endure the harsh outdoors on a daily basis. I still don't think I could do it.

Today is much better- low 60's and it isn't supposed to get over mid-70's for the high! :) THIS weather I could work outside in. Too bad it is the exception rather than the rule!

As a signmaker I work outside hanging my signs. Past few days here it has been 97 and the heat index was 101 , I had a billboard to do. I would get to the jobsite when the sunn was coming up about 6 am to beat the heat , it was 75 then..... I would work till 12 or 1 and then head for the airconditioned shop to work for the rest of the day.

So wizard, that was your cute butt crack I saw on my way to work?

I have to agree with Cheyenne here. Say your acclimated and used to it. I couldn't do it, and hats off, and all other clothing in this heat, to all of you who keep on working and making this country tick.

Yes, my job requires me to work outside, usually all the time unless we're rebuilding the inside of a house.

The heat up here the last couple of weeks, put somewhat a dimmer on the work though (Not counting last fridays 10 and a hlaf hour with a jackhammer directly in the sun). I got a cool boss, if it gets too hot...like yesterday and the day before...we only work until noon- 1 o'clock.

I did manage to get heat stroke though....not a happy feeling.

when i go back to work i will be teaching college so i can go in or outside as i darn well please

Cheyenne,

Yup, spring, summer, winter & fall. You get used to it. I actually freeze when I enter a building with A/C. I wouldn't have it any other way.
