Making money should not translate to being put in a hall of fame.
Example: Mark McGwire.

Agreed. Hagar is an industry success - again, critically and financially. I suspect you believe he shouldn't be in just because you don't like his music.

McGwire is pathetic. I'd rather see Pete Rose inducted.

Cleveland is where the term Rock and Roll originated. It belongs there.

Wow, you don't know jackshit about rock n' roll OR college football.

Tell us, how's that shit covered cock taste?

Usually these calls are pretty obvious, but I think the Hall of Fame really fucked up by choosing to induct Sammy Hagar along with the 4 original members of Van Halen. True, the Hagar-era VH was as commercially successful as the Roth version was, but how well has that stuff held up 15-20 years later?

Bullshit.

Van Halen never had a #1 album when Roth was in the band.

When Hagar took over as lead singer every studio album released by the band went to #1 either by climbing the chart or by debuting there. In addition, Van Halen had much, much more chart success with Hagar then with Roth, as well as much more exposure in addition to winning a vid of the year award for "Right Now."

That sounds completely subjective with no objective data.
Objectively, he has been one of the most influential broadcasters in the history of radio. He has changed the medium in multiple ways. He re-invented talk radio. He has attracted more attention from both the government and private industry than any other radio personality to date.
There is nothing jesterish about his contributions.
You sound like a dumb cunt.
Are you Luxey's sister?

anyone can attract attention by spanking lesbians and saying " titties and pussy" on the radio

Your idea of "influential" and entertainment in general is suspect

You also can't tell a male from a female so you are also an assclown

Want me to get some data to back that up ?

Oh please. By the time it's all said and done, everyone who ever picked up a guitar will be in there. Which includes me. I could really belt out some John Denver back in the day. I deserve it...

Ignore him.
You do sound subjective. I saw your post on the other thread.
You can't ignore his influence on the radio industry.
It is okay not to like him and for him not to be to your preference, but everyone in the industry comprehends his contribution. He helped Pataki win the NY governorship as well as Gov. Whitman in NJ. He has been influential in many campaigns. But this thread is not about him.
Cheers.

You're telling me 1984 was not their biggest album? I find that hard to believe. I know for a fact their biggest hit single was "Jump".

Plus, there's a distinction between where the albums charted at the time and how much they eventually sold. I would bet that Roth-era VH albums outsell Hagar-era albums today by a huge margin, and have consistently done so for the last decade.

Sammy Hagar with Montrose, Sammy Hagar with VH, Sammy Hagar solo...

Yeah, I think he deserves to be inducted alongside the original 4 Van Halenites, hence my vote.

Van Halen's '5150'.... everyone thought it would tank and that Sammy would suck. If my memory serves me well, that turned out to be the best kickass album of the summer and is still good.

Michael Anthony.... I feel for you, dude.

everything is subjective
and I do agree he has influence
far more than makes me comfortable

thank you for your civilized response
cheers as well

Van Halen belongs in the hall of fame, imho. Interesting question...Hagar was part of teh group, contributed in a way to their success. This cannot be denied. But is he really an authentic member, either of teh group or the hall?

Oh, and Van Halen was sucky after DLR left, IMHO. I can't name one song they did after the DLR years.

Of course David Lee Roth is a hotdog, but sometimes hot dogs are good.

Yup...and if we're going by critical acclaim, Sammy definitely should be included. They received more critical praise during Van Hagar than they did with DLR.

Well since Eddie officially fired Michael Anthony and hired his son Wolfgang, it should make an interesting night.

I could give a fuck what you believe or don't believe.

I am truth's servant and I deal in nothing but truth. 1984 NEVER made it to #1 on the Billboard 200, in fact Van Halen never had a #1 album until Hagar was lead singer.

And you'd lose that bet.

'Course since Eddie Van Halen recently announced that he and Roth have reconciled and are planning a new album and massive stadium tour for the summer and fall of 2007, you can go and beat off in the nosebleed seast while a nearly 60 year old David Lee Roth acts like a fucking idiot 200 feet below you.

Hey, pull that twig of hay out of your ass and chill.

David should be inducted, if they're really going to be. The Hall of Fame is a sad joke.

Oh, and you up there, Mr.Roth is quite the nice guy. Talented and funny, kind, and still working his ass off because people still wish to see him!

VH doesn't stand a chance in hell with Eddie looking like shit and his body rotten with alcohol.

sammy hagar has more talent than dave. at least twice as much. van halen was FAR better with him.
