Does 'release' rob the sexual tension of your writing?

I often find I get rather aroused while writing erotica…

Do you think the resulting masturbation can lessen the energy of the writing?

I never get aroused when actually writing my stories. All of my stories begin and develop mentally. By the time I sit down to write them, the entire story is pretty much intact in my brain. Somethings do change, but that is minimal. If I masturbate to my stories, it happens during this thinking process. And frankly, I can't remember the last time one of my own stories got me off.

Since the feedback to my stories is generally good, I would have to believe that the sexual tension is still in place.

So, I would argue that there is a "resulting masturbation" for all writers, and the short answer is no.

Personally, I can't write at all well if I am aroused, so I try to write after sex, rather than during.

I have also noticed that with some writers the grammar, spelling and punctuation go haywire when the hot bits arrive. Clearly the author is excited and it is ruining the process. perhaps typing one handed is difficult.

So my short answer is not just 'no' but 'quite the opposite' the masturbation should be before starting to write..

Woody Allen, in Annie Hall, quoted Balzac, who after an orgasm used to say "There goes another novel."

Not necessarily, but it will definitely make it harder to read!

Hi

Can't say I've actually had a tug while writing, but I do get a semi-on when recounting old experiences within part fact based stories I've often written.
I've never given myself a bone-on with a fiction tale though, just can't get it up for an invention, well not one of mine anyway.

pops............;)

Worthy of Oscar Wilde there, O!

I know what you mean. I like to be a bit frustrated when I write. It's like sex, one you withdrawer you generally lose interest. Same with porn, after I blow my load, for some reason seeing sex scenes becomes like watching grass grow. I think it's a male thing, because women can have multiple orgasms and only somoe men can, and I would assume, only when aroused to a great level.

No, not at all. I don't ......... think ..... it... OHHH ...... has ...... Oh, yes ....... anything to ....... Yes ...... Yes! ....... Mmmmmmm ........ Wheeeeeeeeee! do with it.

Please excuse me while I change the batteries.

I found in writing my latest work that any buildup in sexual energy made it difficult for me to write. At times, I could only write two or three paragraphs before I had to quit, in part because I knew I wasn't going to be able to go anywhere with it. It made some parts incredibly excruciating.

In that same vein, if you hit a stride while writing, sexual or not, it helps to write even if you're arousing yourself. It helps to explain the character's feeling and emotions as they're going to the act.

I have also noticed that with some writers the grammar, spelling and punctuation go haywire when the hot bits arrive. Clearly the author is excited and it is ruining the process. perhaps typing one handed is difficult.
I fully agree. Some stories do a decent job of setting up a sensuous or delicious conflict, only to die because the author wants to get off. :p

Most of my stories have been writen as the result of long "dry spells."

I find that when I have no tentions, the words just do not appear.

When it has been "dry" for a while i can wright easily. I may wind up with a large wet spot, but the words do flow as well.

If I'm writing the sex scenes, I can't be "depleted". I often get aroused while I'm writing, and that helps me make the scenes extra-hot. If I'm not riled up, the sex scenes aren't nearly as good. I can write the other parts fine if I'm not excited, no trouble, but to do the sexy parts I have to be in that kind of mood.

When I am writing my stories I do not masturbate to them, I do sometimes read back a bit and think"thats pretty damn erotic" I might even get a little wet but tha's all.

If I ever masturbate to my story it is before I start writing it, when the idea forms in my mind and I am going through the idea like a daydream.

When I am writing I am so wound up in the actually words and grammar that I only really concerntrate on a sentance at a time. Then when i read it back I distance myself from the story a bit so I can pick up (or at least try to) on spelling and grammar mistakes.
