Does Laurel Put Her Thumb On The Scale?

Scores shouldn't matter, if theyre real scores. Its like pissy Commodus stabbing Maximus in the back before they fight. Why does PILOT come to mind?

The problem is there is no way to determine what a "real score" is. There are authors here who "pad" their stats. There are some who snipe at others, but worse the "fan bases" do it as well.

If they see a story over their beloved authors story in the top lists they will troll the shit out of it.

Also you get people who run up and down the incest/lw categories and one bomb everything and of course you get people who will give a 5 star to a pile of shit if they like that author.

Then again, that's no different then real life. IMO King hasn't come up with a truly scary book since Pet Sematary and desperately needs someone to start cutting huge chunks of self indulgent run-on crap from his books, but people keep buying and his editors are afraid of him.

Youre right about King, 'IT' shoulda been cut in half.

I suppose youre right, too, about the scoring; its a royal cluster fuck.

Yep, Lovecraft, Lit has been down for most of yesterday

I wonder if this is a "bug" or the side effect of more "upgrades" that non one asked for and that no one seems to notice the result of.

The real crappy thing is that they have decided to fool with the site during a contest. Lit was down a good part of last night. The people who entered must be pissed and you can't get those "first day" views and votes back.

. . . and it's been a major pain. I really feel for the participants of the Earth Day Contest that this is happening as they try to enter.

And to be honest, I haven't really seen any improvement, either. If Lit wants to improve on anything, it should be their publishing speed. It still takes 4-6 days before a story is published after it's been submitted, just as it was and has been for the five and a half years I've been here. Quicker turnaround would be a major improvement.

I've submitted the last (and incredibly LONG) chapter to my Cursed and Coveted (NonHuman) story early on Tuesday. It still hasn't published. Now, I know we have two options when submitting work: the copy&paste and the upload option, but having corresponded with other authors, there really doesn't seem to be any difference in publishing time between the two. Since all my stories have html, I have to use the upload option (or I can, after copy&pasting, go through the entire story and manually add html codes - which is just way too much work). Surely there's got to be a way for Lit to install software that can make it easier on them and speed it up a bit?

For awhile I was getting 3 days and steady enough that I would always submit on Tuesday to get a Friday release. Then a few months back it went to 4/5

My last 2 were 5/4 respectably. But I was annoyed that both got the "later start" and did not show up until after 11 east coast time. There is a huge difference in views from a story up first am and one up that late.

Now with a contest 6 would not surprise me. I'm not sure if its more stories, they are being looked at closer or there is just less interest on behalf of the site these days.

I think more care is being taken with looking at new submissions. I don't think I've seen as many posts about stories being rejected during the first few years I was here than I have since my return. That gives me the impression that Laurel et al are being more diligent. That is just an impression, however; only the powers that be really know what's going on.

I do know, however, that there were at least a handful of stories on Lit whose authors found a way to "sneak in." These were all stories featuring underaged characters, but whose ages were never explicitly stated. Certain hints were given that made it clear the story was about someone not of the age of consent. For example, one I had found said something along the lines of, "I won't tell you how old I was when this story happened, but I was in high school at the time and I definitely wasn't a senior."

That story and several others I had flagged are now gone.

Now, casting aside the tired old arguments concerning Lit's policy to not accept stories with underaged characters, that is the policy and I for one am immensely glad for it. Otherwise, Literotica would be overrun with poorly-written pedophile stories.

Lit has its problems, but it's the best venue I've ever found for posting erotic stories in a conscientious and responsible manner.

The thing is with little tricks like that, Laurel would have to read through most of story and closely to catch that. Same goes for stories that are actually rape as opposed to reluctance and she does not have that kind of time.

There is an author on here (not the boards, he does not post here, but on lit itself) who pisses me off because they are forever using the expression her "budding breasts" that certainly conjures images of not just under age, but even pre-teen.

What's scary is this is a top 20 author(and no, its not scouries) so people like it.

Also you can use High School, people can be 18 in High school. I've done it, but in accordance with the rules example:

"While Mr. Williams droned on and on, I looked out the classroom window. I could see the red Celica my parents had given me last month for my 18th birthday and..."

So HS can work "legally"

Stephen King: Now for my 300th novel, a couple... is attacked... by a giant lamp monster.

Editor: You're not even trying anymore are you?

* Thank you Family Guy
